I took my car into Irvine BMW because my car was flashing multiple errors like transmission error, SOS call failure and electrical output failure(something along the lines of this). About two days later, I receive a call from my advisor who tells me that their is "yellow residue" on the computers in the trunk and that it's not covered under the warranty. She tries to tell me to go through my insurance and its gonna cost about 2300$. I was shocked to hear this especially since I never carried any "yellow residue" in my car, let alone would ever need to. I tried to contact the manager, and I was brushed off multiple times by the rude lady who works in customer care (ironic). I called BMWNA and they told me its the dealerships decision as to what will be decided. As of now I have no idea what to do and I just wanted to make it known how poorly this dealership cares about its customers.

My suggestion would have been to go to different dealership before contacting BMWNA. You still can and try....

i honestly have never dealt with the service department here, even though i live close to it. my only experience here was when i was shopping for my car i received horrible service. the salesmen was quite rude and appeared he was aggravated that he had to help me. he seemed as though he was in a rush to get rid of me rather than show me the car. when we approached the car i was interested in, he just pointed to it. he never attempted to open the car up or explain to me even though i made it clear i had never driven one or been inside of an m3. therefore i refuse to take my car there ever.

Did they show it to you/do you have any pics of it? It could just be some cosmoline which gets applied before they ship the car.

It's the closest BMW dealer to me yet I have bought 6 new BMWs from other dealers.

For convenience, I took one of my BMW's there for service but will no longer return.

I would rather pay, out of my pocket, to have an independent BMW mechanic service my cars than get service there for free.

Thank goodness there are plenty of other dealers in your area.

first things first...document the situation. if you're going to discuss a problem like this on a forum, you need to post pictures of this yellow residue.

especially if you want informed feed back. this dealership could have crappy customer care, but if you want a solution to your warranty issue, the damage has to be assessed accurately first.

then you can figure out where to take it, how to fix it and/or just how horrible this dealership is.

I prefer Crevier Bmw... I used Irvine a few times before, but never like their service.

I will be going to the dealership in a few hours to look at this "residue." What I posted is what they told me. I'm upset because I've never put any yellow fluids in my trunk.

Battery is in the trunk. Passenger side, closest to the tail lamp, underneath the plastic cover.

So many dealers are horrible. I almost went to Irvine for a free oil change, but opted to spend the $300 to go to an independent mechanic.
