Wow. 080E is very old, you should fall in love with your M3 all over again after the update.

My car is in for a 30k service which includes oil change, spark plugs, and rear axle fluid change.

I guess I have FRM2. Can the dealer re-program the LCI or dealers with autologic can only do this?

Dealers cannot program FRM2, you will need autologic or someone willing to code remotely.

If you would like to go the autologic route, contact Autologic directly @ 877.945.6442 and they can locate a programming facility in your area.

Yeah, my tech at BMW couldn't do it.

I have my car back from BMW. My initial feeling, the car is smooth but it can very well be the oil change and new spark plugs. When I jumped on the throttle, it doesn't have that loud V8 roar like the ESS tune and I'm assuming it's because of the tuning. I'll try and get the car dyno'd before and after the ESS tune and see if there is any difference.

UPDATE: ESS has sent me the updated tune for the new OS flash. The car will get dyno'd on Wednesday. Stay tune...

Just had my car updated to ISTA/P 46.5....previous was 41.2. Took about 2 1/2hrs. Total cost: $143.00. Car is more responsive now...much stronger.

Did you do a tune at the same time or did you have a tune prior?

Just went to the 231E via my Evolve-R from 100E free of charge : ) Backup of the 100E (data + tuning) to my laptop took 30mins; flash to 231E took 5 mins.

Initial impressions after about 20 miles:

-More responsive throttle and noticeable power bump from 2.5k-4k. They definitely made changes in this area. Corners that felt under-powered at 3k in 3rd gear are not nearly as under-powered now - much more thrust now.
-Overall more power - even seems to be the case in 90F+ weather. Could still be learning the limits though.
-Overall smoother and more responsive throttle - noticed on my downshifts in particular.
-Idle and low-RPM-puttering-around seem smoother

Very pleased with this change so far.

With 100E being present, I bet you're loving the update.

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

Are the dealers doing this software update at a customer's request?

I am looking for my SA to do this update by BMW but his response was that there needs to be an issue that would require an update, and since my car running is ok, my car does not need a software update.

Any input as to how you went about to have the dealer do the update will be greatly appreciated.

What's your current mileage? Have plugs been recently changed?

Updating is only part of the solution. Maintenance is essential.
