Ah, I see.

One thing is for sure, I would sure like to have the F30 interior vs. my E92. I'm sure the ///M version will get an even better premium treatment in the next iteration.

your probably right. forcing all of us to decide to be on the bandwagon of the new latest and greatest, or defend our NA V8 and merits of older tech. i for one plan to do both if i can.

I don't see many E60 M5 owners that are desperately clinging to their S85's.

Don't get me wrong, I love my S65, and hope to have it a very long time.

i get the sense that a lot of people are going to cling to both the s65 and s85. both are phenomenal engines.

Resale pricing of the E60 M5 is pretty terrible. Not very indicative of people clinging onto them.

Well, at least we know what we're up against in the new M3/M4: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=694375

I think a V6 based off the F10 M5's motor would have been more intriguing to me than an I6.

very true. pricing is on the downslide. most people care more about having what newest. it will be a good car but may lack some soul in exchange for other attributes. they keep getting easier for the novice to go fast in.

This is true. BMW has often said the entry-level ///M car is a used one

The turbo four is incredibly smooth(almost I6 smooth). The 8 speed does a good job, also. I don't like the way it sounds but power is on demand. It's got plenty of 'oomph'. Gas milage is a very good point. It's got incredible gas milage. BMW needs to work on the auto start/stop. It's not really smooth.

Yeah they went and bit from the 2009 Z4. Headlamps look very similar. Take that away and its a 2006 car.

For a new family these are great cars. But so is the new X5.

Yes, the Start up from stopped (Ready?) is very abrupt. I thought I read there was a software fix, but I'm too lazy to find the post.

X5 is nice, but due to be replaced in a year or so with the F15. Then it will have all the new features of the F30 + more.

Drove my fiends new 535 M Sport with start/stop and it was quite smooth as long as you're not flooring it when the light turns green.

Maybe the N55 is smoother to start than the N20? I wouldn't mind using it all the time (find myself being rather thrifty with gas these days), but the abrupt restart is simply too distracting.

The car I drove was a 2/2012 build.

Is the m3-m4 platform also called f30 or is it f80? Getting confusing.
