re: Track pads & Wheels

Guys,

Thanks for the suggestions on pads and wheels/setup.

Where would you recommend I go to purchase the pads and wheels/tires?

Thanks

Brake pads: SportsCarBoutique (they usually stock the M3 Pagids)

Tires: Tires23 in Mississauga - they give really good pricing and service

Wheels: Depends what you want. I normally go with Speedstar (if I want
Japanese made wheels), otherwise, V-Road in Chicago. Also check the Canadian for sale threads, there are some good wheels for sale there right now.

They should have given Mike a gold medal for keeping that camera so steady, not a black flag!

The GoPro was mounted to the windshield and he was attempting to be "artsy" by taking pictures in the car with his I-phone.He did a great job with the video for sure

That is a good price. It's exactly what I sold my set of TE37SL for a while back. You can't go wrong with a good set of Volks for the track. They're light, strong and they'll clear pretty much any BBK.

How does it work with Canada Customs and the purchase of used parts?

Do I have to pay duty or sales tax?

I recall that shipping via US postal service doesnt involve brokers?

The owner says it only rubs very slightly on the wheel well plastic at full right or left (which will only occur in the parking lot)

Wheels are a 0% duty part, so you should just end up paying HST on the price you paid for the wheels. USPS does its own brokering, but it has a set fee, so they don't charge the crazy rates UPS does. I would recommend having the wheels shipped to Buffalo, and then you bring them over. Odds are shipping fees will be a lot less that way.

If I can get a track setup ready in time I am definitely interested, as I really hurt a new set of PS2s over a weekend there 3 years ago on my E90 M3

Those are nice wheels at a good price as Shizzle mentioned. 285 will be fine but like you said, expect some slight rubbing at full lock etc. I am currently running RS3's but only run 285 on the rear. You could always pick up a set of 265 or 275 for the front and save the 285's for the rear. Up to you.

USPS will charge you a fee for brokering, but a fraction of what UPS, Fedex charge. You should only have to pay HST

I did not see anything real bad at the Bus stop.I brake between the 1st RH turtle and the 2nd turtle which is on the LH to help to get the car turning to the left to be on the correct line to exit to C5.I bleed the speed down from the turn in point right to the 2nd turtle.I used to enter the bus stop in 3rd gear but now I use 4th with much less braking before the intial turn in.I am pretty sure that last year the 1st turtle was much higher so I never tried to do it this way which is a fair bit faster.

Here is the full length video of me at WGI. I merged the front facing camera with the rear facing one in a nice split-screen arrangement. Quite interesting to see what is going on behind the car as well as the front...
