Fwiw, that Vette felt and sounded like there was a concrete mixer in the rear. Kind of exagerrating, but you get the idea! Still, it had badass power!

I kind of wish I had a 4.6L stroker motor For a little more streetable torque.

As for planes, my fave was always the X-15, followed by the SR-71.

Lame, ignorant comments.

Piece of shit huh?

I'm a hardcore M3 fan. I've owned every M3 besides an E30 (soon). And I'm not a huge Vette fan either. But comments like this really are ignorant and hold zero weight. True enthusiasts wouldnt call a performer like the Vette a piece of shit.

Sometimes, I admit, I do miss the raw power of the cobra. But IMHO the M3 is a much better all around balanced and fun sports car.

And if your just looking to get a speed fix go out and buy a crotch rocket. the 850hp vette cant touch that trust me.
+1 I had a 350z that I twin turbo and was crazy fast then sold that and got a 335i and did the avg mods like. Chip down pipe and all that stuff then sold it and pick up the M3 although it's the slowest car in a straight line I have had in the last 6 years it's also the best all around feeling and worry free car I have had. Remember this when adding alot of hp to a car there will alway be some type of side effect or problem trust me. "it's the unspoken word for modding most the time" if you want power that can't be matched pick up any 1000 sports bike from 04+ trust me I have a gsxr 1000 and two zx10r still can't get the feeling out of my head with 1down in the front 2 up in the rear ;-)

At least the E92 beats out the 1 Series attempt at an ///M

the c6 is also in 911 pricing category ... different type of car

My point is that these times are nice to compare and use as a general yardstick, but does not mean very much when trying to apply that to each individual.
what kind of comment is this? I'd be willing to wager a professional driver in a Chevy Cruze would be faster around the track than you in an M3.....

What kind of point are you trying to prove?

So, we pop the hood which has a center carbon fiber cold air vent, and I see a monsterous supercharger, front intercooler, and a plaque on the plenum stating 768HP and 700 something lb/ft torque. This was rear wheel!! He tells me it is like 850hp at the crank.

Needless to say, we went for a drive.

Thing is insane. It way outpulls any relatively stock M3 even when in 3rd gear! He tells me other Vettes with the same mods have run high 9s in the quarter.

Now I want G forces like this.....

He also have suspension mods and races at Millville all the time. Handles great.

Kind of rough ride though.
If this is what you want, you should not have bought an M3. How about trying a GTR. While these kinds of numbers look great on paper, how often can you really use it. I find that I don't even have too many opportunities in real world driving to even fully utilize all the M3 has to offer.

It seems like the focus isn't on the highspeed afterburner flight anymore (F-22 can supercruise over Mach 1 without afterburners), but more on manueverabilty, fuel economy etc....

I'd compare the m3 to the F-22 for sure....and Vette, more like a Mig-25 Foxbat (mach 3+)
Somehow I missed the fact that the F-22 wasn't as fast as the F-15. I woulda put good money on the 22. Super cruise is certainly a huge feature though.

It's to refined it may be quick and the dct is affective and fast but it doesn't feel fast and it's not as exciting to drive fast it just is too removed from the driving expirience for me taste. Idk the v8 rocks and dct is so good at what it does it's almost too good and takes the fun outta the driving. It is so affective it lacks feedback. I'd rather have some feeling. I woudnlt call it slow it just doesn't feel fast it's like more of a luxury car unless you really modify it to be a track car. Weight is the enemy. I can tell the difference between a full tank of gas, between having 1 passenger and myself alone, and between 10 degrees F in temperature with how it's acceleration differs. So having 300lbs more in the e9x and having it feel more like a daily driver more refined is not fun. I would own own as a DD or a toy to track if you could afford to strip it out and tune it up nice. The e46 feels faster despite being ever so slightly slower to 60 and the 1/4...the e46 feels faster with pulled exhaust and tune and coil overs it just is more of an exciting car to drive IMO.

Q. What do you call a race driver who did not win the race but had more fun than the winner?

A. The loser.

The "pure performance" argument is no contest in favor of Corvette. Ironically, Corvette also wins the fuel economy contest, and it weighs nearly 500 lbs less, with 200 more HP at the top of the food chain, and 100 at the Z06 level. Now, if you want to talk about what is the better all-around street daily-driver, I'm with you on the M3.

I currently use an E93 M3 as my daily-driver, and I've also owned a C6 Z06, which was more trouble-free and easier to maintain than any BMW I've ever owned.
The E46 M3 CSL did it in 7:50. Stock

haha you know that feeling you get at full throttle in 1st and 2nd gear of the m3? You get that feeling in all 6 gears of the vette!

The aqua velva comment was hillarious though, touche!

dude was sharing a fun experience - for those of us with just a pure appreciation for cars and their inner mechanical magic that propels us at speeds we once only dreamed of its a fun story that brings us back to other cars we have owned or driven in.

OP - you should put up a few pics of the set up!

No F-15 is faster than the F-22...especially the F-15E (pictured), which is the E-93 of the F-15 family.

kinda silly discussion. I had a 502 big block in a trans am. low 11"s on street tires. M3 is a much superior ALL around car. Supercharger on an M3? I like the sound of that if your trying to go faster.

+1
Comparing a modded car to a stock car?
You could mod a SMART car and it will blow the doors off of a Ferrari. Oh wait, thats been done before
