i hope it is a sub 8 second car or very close to it.. i mean a 335i ran a 8.29, and i think its very easy to get a 335i down to a sub 8 second car.. id love to see what a 335 will do if you shave a few pounds, add an lsd, a proper wheel and tire set up, some coilovers and sway bars and a procede v2, intake and exhaust...

Gee, lets think what the new M3 could do with all the mods you listed.....
Will people ever let it die?

QUOTE=335i black/red;1077013
The 335i ran 8.26 not 8.29, and yes it wld be very interesting to c what 335i loaded w procede wld do...even without all these other mods...just the Version 2 procede, and an exhaust. I would bet my car on it that it wld beat that 8.12....ANYDAY! Can they get one on the full track...oristhat for manufacturers only?[/QUOTE]

IMO Your car would not beat 8:12 anyday, especially if you don't have an LSD. No LSD = lots of tire spin with the electronics turned off. With the electronics turned on, then too much brake application to reduce tire spin. Now if you have an LSD and your not too loaded up on weighty options and Hans Stuck is piloting it - I can see it.

You're a lot of being disapointed of the new M3 times....but nobody here, for sure, is able to perform like that....so whatever??...

I'm living near the nürburgring, i race on it, and i can tell you, less than 8.20 is a great performance! event with a Carrera GT!

So enjoy the new toy!!

Cheers

It's funny how much people are getting worked up about this. I'm sure there will be better times than 8:12 for the M3. And like the previous poster said, that's pretty damn good to begin with.

I wonder how many are giving up their place in line because of this "breaking news".

Definitely NOT "very easy" at all to knock 30 seconds off of an already fast cars time, regardless of your mods. All of the above mods including LSD with r-compound tires might get the 335i close to the 8 minute barrier. The tires themselves should get you about half of the 30 seconds needed.

It's cool people. Relax. I've still yet to see an official lap time for the 07 M Coupe. M Roadster is 8:15...M Coupe is "faster"

I knew it, that time wasnt officiell.

Just too bad every brandforum (such as RS6.com, rennteam, mbworldorg) will still use the unofficialtime 8.12 min.
Bad mistake BMW Canada .

Man did you ever nail that one. I was on the fence and could not really form a solid opinion. Maybe our little forum had something to do with it.

I emailed BMW Deutschland and notified them about the time, the forum discussions and questioned the validity of the time. I'm not saying that's why the took it off, but maybe it did. I got a reply saying my query would be passed on to the relevant department.

From Wiki:

"During the industry testing sessions in which de:Sport auto records its "Supertest", the track can not be traveled at full speed past "Tribüne 13" (T13, grandstand 13) in order to allow safe access from the old exit/entrance there. Thus, Sportauto Supertests cover only about 20.6 km, which in average yields a 7 s shorter lap time compared to a full lap."

I wonder whether the unofficial/unconfirmed time of 8:12 is based on a full lap, or the 20.6 km lap used in the Supertests. . .

Maybe Sportauto will get an 8:05!

That would be great, especially since the R8 did a 8:04 in supertest!

Best regards, south
