Curious, cuz I'm having them put on tomorrow and wanted to know if anyone has noticed any differences between the regular AD08. P-Zero's are currently on.

When I was at Tire Rack for an auto-x this year, I asked Luke what his personal opinion of the AD08-R was. He said they were too new and they hadn't extensively tested them yet.

Keep us apprised. They're a pretty extreme tire for street use.

Just had a track day on them (275/30/19 and 295/30/19) and they held up really well. They had less than 200 miles on them and had a fair amount of tread squirm. I came from mich pss and I prefer these. A rant here on mich pss - I hate how soft the sidewalls are. Car felt like crap with them (I know - blasphemy!) The AD08Rs are a little more harsh but car feels more connected. They are noisier than the mich.

I'm very happy with the AD08Rs!

Yeah but it was a few years ago on my '08 car. Too long ago to compare.

I know a guy with an Evo X who went from 1st gen AD08's to PSS. He said the same thing - he much prefered the AD08's.

I talked to another Evo X driiver with PSS, who hadn't run AD08's. He said the PSS have a lot of grip, but a squishy character (paraphrasing, here).

I think it just depends on what you prefer. If you like the planted, connected feeling, you'll be happier with a stiff sidewall. If you want less noise a more ride comfort, a softer sidewall is better.

I just finished a set of Falken Azenis and found them to be a good compromise. Not the stiffest tire I've run, but still well mannered. The car was always very manageable, when it got a bit sideways. I'd happily buy another set, but I prefer to try something different for the sake of variety.

100 miles on the so far, so it's still early, but I'll give few first impressions.

Rougher ride (knew that going in).

Turn in is much sharper. I drive on some twisty roads to get home each day and 3 times I turned in too sharply on curves I drive everyday.

Car feels more planted on curves, but my PZeros had 15k on them and were toast.

The AD08R are noisier but it's not bad. I didn't notice 'til I was on a quiet road with about 50 miles on the tires.

It rained this morning but by the time I got out on the road were dry.

I just finished a track day at Barber couple of weekends ago on the AD08R's. 265/30/19 on all four corners.

My reference for comparison was coming from Pilot Super Sports in stock sizes (staggered)

Took 2 laps to warm up, vs 1/2 lap on PSS's.

Lasted 20 to 25 minutes before getting greasy on track vs 10 to 15 minutes with the PSS's.

Seems to have just a bit more grip in the corners (could be a change in the tire sizes for me), but braking was similar to the PSS's.

Tire wear seems more even...maybe because of a change from 35 series to 30 series.

Overall, I like them better than the PSS's for track use.

These will be my next track set. But first I need to wear out the treads I have. And the tread on my light track car is farther gone than the tread on my M3 track wheels, so I may wind up having my first experience with the 205/50/15s. Either way it will be next season before I get there.

used em in an event this past weekend. very very good tire for street and track use. love the firm sidewall that helps the car grip after just a little bit of roll when cornering.

perfect for the m3 IMO as a dual use tire. I ran 255/275 on a 9/10 inch wheel setup.

I really like the greatly improved steering and cornering feel on the street as well. highly recommended.

I continue to be impressed with these tires. Only caveat is simply that I have no time on them in wet conditions yet.

Great to know. Will definitely check them out when it comes time to switch out PSS.

I'd like to know how they perform int he rain though, very happy with PSS with that aspect. Cold weather too.

The sidewalls are a bit more squared off, yes.

They have a square shoulder instead of rounded so run wide.

Not sure why people are comparing the AD08/AD08-R to the PSS. They are not competitor tires. The AD08R is basically a streetable track tire, but the PSS is a trackable street tire.

Uh oh, well that's not good. I'm currently running 295/30/19 PSS in the rear with Swift springs, and it's mighty close to rubbing. Rear rims are 11" wide btw.

And 285 is not available for the AD08R's either.

While I agree with you, the AD08R is in a different class. People compare them so the can figure out which route to take. Like you wrote, streetable track tire or trackable street.
