Has anyone removed the sticker from the vinyl visors? Any change to technique or chemicals used?

There have been other threads mentioning techniques for removal of the visor warning labels. I can't comment on the 3M adhesive remover or Goof-Off paint remover, but I can attest to the success of using plain ol' ACETONE and a microfiber towel.

For the 2011 M3 with vinyl visors, just wet (about a tablespoon) the microfiber towel and pre-apply the whole label for 10-15 seconds. Then start at one corner with the wet towel and apply continuous scraping pressure from thumbs and/or fingers until separation occurs. Then continue working the free edge like "rolling up a carpet." Keep the towel wet with more acetone as you go along. Not too much, just enough to keep it damp. The small loops on the towel will do most of the gripping action for you. The label comes off fairly easily in just 2-3 big pieces. So easy, in fact, that I did not have to remove the visor beforehand. If the technique had proved challenging I would have then started over and taken the visors off. It takes 5-8 minutes per side (probably quicker if the visor had been removed beforehand so you don't have to work with both arms overhead). Acetone leaves no permanent mark and actually smells nice while you use it! Any wrinkling goes away in 15 minutes, and you can come back the next day if there are any visible remnants. I'd say that with gentle follow-up wiping, the sticker residue 'shadow' is about 98% gone.

My guess is that newer stickers (i.e., later model vehicles) will come off more easily than old ones that have been sun-baked on for many years. For example, I used the same technique with acetone on my 2002 330i visors (leather interior, but the visors felt like leatherette) the same day as the 2011 M3, and those labels pretty much disintegrated. Instead of coming off in 2-3 pieces, it broke down into a thousand shriveled pieces. Still, the microfiber towel was still able to clean it off in <10 minutes per side. Good luck!

I removed my labels today using acetone and a microfiber towel. Worked like a champ. The labels came right off...practically with 1 pass of the towel.

Here's a pic of one done (sorry for quality...took with phone):

It takes less than 2 minutes to remove the visors from the car and it keeps you from either dripping solvent or little plastic flicks on your seat when you remove the sticker.

Mine left no mark when done. Microfiber and acetone here on a 2011.

You have the new "leather look" visors, I would imagine these wouldn't have the potential for the shadow or imprint as much as the cloth covered ones. Does anyone have a before and after of the old style??

Mine left a slight imprint/outline on my fabric visors. It's kindof like a spot on carpet where a chair has been sitting for a while. No color difference and looks so much better without, even if there's a slight depression in the fabric where the sticker used to be. Makes me wonder how much crack comes with the euro visors to justify the expense...

I used acetone on a microfiber towel. It might have taken me 10 minutes including drinking two beers. I'll take an after pic sometime, we all know how they look before.

Yeah...I was a bit nervous. Wound up being one of the quickest mods I've done. I'm very pleased with the outcome.

I removed the sticker with acetone and a soft towel, but it left behind a darker color/shiny area where the glue was. Any other products that you'd suggest to get it all out? I was thinking goo-gone, but I'm scared it'll damage the "leather"

Yes

1) Removed the visors from the car
2) Using a cotton ball I applied finger nail polish remover (acetone) to the labels. I kept the labels moist, but did not saturate. After a minute or two the labels begin to bubble and they can be pulled from the visor.
3) Use Goof-Off the remove any residue. I moistened the label area with the Goof-Off and lightly scrubbed with a tooth brush.
4) Washed the visors with soap and warm water.
5) This completely removed the warning label, left absolutely no residue, or evidence the label was ever present.

So there's no benefit? That's what I thought. No benefit = waste of time. My personal preference is not to waste my time doing things that are pointless. Thanks for clarifying.
Then you must feel that humping without the intent of bearing children is a waste of time.

I used good ol dish soap and water after I was done and once they aired out...you couldn't tell a sticker had ever been there.

Hmmmm......DiRTyDeLuX,

I'm trying to figure out why if your life philosophy is

then why are you asking a worthless i.e. pointless question that hopefully you already know the answer to?

To quote a troll I recently ran into, No benefit = waste of time......just who do you think your vitriolic posts are benefiting. News flash: You're posts in this thread were a waste of your time

You took as much time to type your posts as it takes to accomplish this worthless modification which, by the way, cleans up the look of the M3's interior considerably.

To those asking about the visors on the 2011, as others have said, Acetone works very well. Having done this to the visors in a Z4, a Boxster and three Carrera's I figured out via trial and error that what works well for me is to cut a micro fiber just lager than the warning sticker, soak it in acetone, ring out and then lay over top of the sticker for about 5 minutes. After a 5 minute dwell the label should just lift right off.

Not sure what would happen if you left it to dwell too long so do use common sense if you try this method.

I'm on the fence.

I want to remove mine, but then how will I know that "even with advanced airbags", I might get hurt in the event of an accident?
