My E90 M3 Alpine White/Fox Red 6MT
Hi Everyone,
I am a brand new member to this forum. I have been looking for a white four-door M3 with fox red interior and a manual transmission for months. After my friends nyfg56 and kabuda picked up their M3's, my excitement to get in one only got higher and higher. Previously, I had a 2011 Subaru WRX (white hatchback) and I absolutely loved that car. It was my first "performance" car. I had some work done to it and had a turbo back exhaust to bring out that Subaru rumble. While I still had the Subaru, I was checking cars.com, car guru's, and the forums daily for new listings for White E90's with red interior that were also manual. I did not expect these cars to be so rare. I was able to only find two listed for sale in the country that matched my criteria. The sad part was, one was actually a DCT but listed as a manual, and the other was way overpriced. The hardest part about this process was remaining patient. On 4/10/17 a car was listed in the for sale section by mocsman that fit exactly what I was looking for. I immediately reached out to him, and after going back and forth for a few days and him answering every single question I had, I bought two train tickets to Delaware for that weekend(my friend wanted to come along for the ride). This was by far, the longest week of my life. On 4/22/17, I arrived in DE with my friend. mocsman picked us both up from the train station and upon getting in the car, he proceeded to show us a video of his kids saying goodbye to the car. About 30 seconds in, there is a loud noise. His daughter stood up and banged her head on the windshield causing about a 6 inch crack in the windshield. Thankfully, she was okay and he offered to replace the windshield for me. Then just like that, my friend and I were cruising back to CT from DE in my new M3! Here are some pics from when I finally got it home. I was even able to bring it to the season opener Cars & Coffee in Milford, CT the next day (parked next to my friend's RS4)! I will be updating this thread with my build. It has been long due for me to post this, but I wanted to introduce myself and my new (used) M3! |

Thanks everyone for the responses! I wish I had an answer as to how a little girl could break the glass, but at the end of the day, she was okay and that's all that matters!
Have some updates. Exhaust This was an extremely hard decision for me. I knew I wanted a refined/loud tone. I was looking at Gintani race exhausts for the longest time but read many reviews about how awful the drone is. I saw many people talk so highly of the exhaust mod on these cars and how not one person dislikes the exhaust mod. I even read some people say they switched to real exhausts and actually preferred the tone of the mod and switched back! So, with this in mind, I went down to visit the guys at AUTOCouture in NJ and had them do the exhaust mod. My first impressions were "finally this thing is loud and I can hear that beautiful V8!" Also, I opted for the Magnaflow exhaust tips ACM has as an option, and man they look good. The tips fill in the bumper perfectly and look very aggressive. The guys welded the tips on and made sure they were PERFECTLY aligned before I left. The attention to detail was incredible. But then while still at ACM, I heard another owner's ESS 625 fully catless Eisenmann Race set up and said "Well, I'll see you guys in another few weeks to go catless." The mod was nice to make the car a bit louder, but it still just was missing something. It sounded great, but I wanted it to be louder. Two weeks later, I decided to buy a custom x pipe from a fellow forum member which had test pipes welded onto them. Then back to ACM I went. Quick review of the ACM mod & test pipes ACM mod with test pipes IMO is an incredible combo. It's very exotic sounding and ever since I did the test pipes, I have been getting compliments on the sound of the car. Now that it's catless, it feels more "brutal" and the revs sound incredible. There is absolutely ZERO drone (don't ask me how, I have no idea). It's quiet when cruising, but when you get on it, it get's LOUD. I know loud is subjective. To put it in perspective, I'm a 22 year old who likes loud cars and not just a little exhaust note. When revving past 3k it gets to a brutal level, almost piercing (in a good way). It can be obnoxious if you want it to be, or it can be tame and sound exotic if you want to be a responsible person Rod Bearings I decided to take the plunge and do what I was considering doing before I had even purchased an M3 and get my rod bearings changed. As a reference, I have 72k on the stock bearings pictured below. While at ACM, I had them install the new x pipe and do some other maintenance items.
