Exhaust Cutouts and Custom Tips!!!

I posted some of this in my build thread but never built a thread just for the exhaust. Below are some pictures of the installation.

The cutouts are Race Ready. The actual cutouts seem to be really strong. The other pieces that came with the kit, not so much. We had to re-fabricate most of what was needed to set it up. I did the wiring install myself. There were some tricks to get it to work right. But its flawless!!!

Install

Here is a sound clip from the day of the installation
.

[u2b]<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vvzsU26p2vY&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/vvzsU26p2vY&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>[/u2b]

The switch.

Here is a video of the switch in action.

And last but not least, here is a video of the car on a dyno, opened and closed. Not much HP difference, but at least Im not losing HP.

And a driving video open and closed. I didnt go up past 5k in this one...

Thanks again.

I could write up a breakdown of the switch build but it was not simple and I dont have many pictures of the process, just what you see here.

I went though my first PC board experimenting and then was successful with the second one. At this point you would have to use the Race ready system, or source the exact switch for it to work.

Whats funny is that the switch they use is an old OEM BMW window switch. I could defiantly help someone trying to do this exact thing. But with a different switch would come more experimentation.

I am more than willing to help anyone local with this solution.

You should gain. We dynoed at a place that specializes in supercharging vettes. The owner has cutouts on his car. takes it from like 750HP closed to 800+ open. From what he says.

1. Very clean install - exhaust and switch. Had I not gone with the V. exhaust this was my exact plan - cut outs and black tips. Thanks for all the pics, documentation and dyno run!

2. It is not all all surprising to see such small gains on the dynao. The OEM exhaust is very well optimized from a major OEM supplier. They don't leave much on the table. Of course other systems will leave a lot more on the table to be gained by cut outs.
