I watched the Red group on Sunday for one session (I had to see how my father was treating my baby), and I was impressed by the kid driving the Blue E36 M3 w/ the white hood and white wing. I don't know how he didn't get bumped up to Yellow. I was in the grandstands next to his instructor (he was signed off) who was rooting for him as he was driving up the ass of a very similar E36 driven by an instructor. I thought he was going to get around him too! I don't know what other experience the kid had, but apparently it was only his second DE. Amazing.

That guy was fast. I gave him an automatic point by whenever I saw him.

Very smooth and quick MTROIS. Good job! I enjoyed watching the vids.

I am a bit confused about the passing rules though. There seems to be quite a bit of passing in corners which is a big no-no at all the tracks around here. Plus the side to pass seems to be random and based on the what the passee decides and what side of the track he/she is. Am I missing something?

yes, the passing rules and zones were very vague - even the classroom instructor seemed unsure of where we could pass and on which side

Thanks for the positive reinforcement FrenchBoy!!

As far as the passing rules were concerned:

- the driver of the car overtaken has to indicate on which side he wants to be passed with the golden rule that in 99% of the cases he should stay on the line and the car overtaking him should pass him off-line. Having said that....some people had different lines I guess

- In the Yellow group we were allowed to pass in the LightBulb (Big Sweeper), the front straight, between 1 and 2 and between 5 and 7

- As a courtesy to other drivers I sometimes entered the turns off-line

I did not think it was that bad, but I will look again.

nice work, Marc - it`s pretty cool the way the wing rises on Joe`s 911!
