2010 air filter fits on 2008 model?

Does the air filter from a 2010 model M3 fit on the 2008 model (US-spec cars). I know the 2008 will fit on the 2010+ models but will be loose. What about vice versa?

2010 was the first year US cars came with the Euro filter. A filter from a 08-09 won't fit right without the MS adapter. EAS sells the adapter. No if a new filter will fit an older car, but I'm sure someone will chime in.
