Special color ordering

Does anyone know about ordering a special color on an M3?

I really like Sterling Grey that is offered on the 7 series. I am thinking about ordering an M3 in this color if it is possible.

I just stopped by the dealer who could not give me an answer on the subject.

Does anyone have a contact at BMW who would know the answer, or has anyone here successfully special ordered a color other than the standard colors offered for the M3?

If so, what was the cost. I am guessing $3k ish.

Not sure if that colour is available for the new M3, but yes BMW individual is available in Europe. In the US its only for available for the 7 series.

Some of the above.

Why is it that I can find almost everything I want in a car?

I special color ordered my E46 M3 in Sterling Grey - cost me 2k - the sales associate can handle this for you.

It adds about a month to the order process because they have to group a bunch of special orders together to do it.

definitely doable. Just have to push a little. I think they need to ask for Regional Approval by BMWNA.

but to be honest.. saw the A52-Space Grey Metallic IRL and it looks almost identical. Looked good with FR leather... only problem was it has the aluminum trim!

You are the first to tell me this is possible. I went back and searched some old threads on the subject, and the consensus is that this is not possible with the e90 M3.

I have not heard back from the sales associate yet, shocking I know.

I'll post if anything positive happens. Otherwise you can safely assume that I was unable to special order this color.

The salesman at my dealership said it was available for a 335i, so I would assume that the M3 would be the same. I think this is the same kind of thing as Euro Delivery. (Although ED has become very popular, with this generation.) Most salesmen either didn't know it existed, weren't sure how to get it done, or didn't want to deal with the added hassle. With "Paint to Sample," the dealership is also putting themselves out on a bit of a limb, and some won't do it. If you pick an off color, and then back out for some reason, they've gotta sell that thing. Even if they somehow manage to keep your deposit, which I doubt, they still have to sell the car, most likely at a big discount.
