Used m3 might have a tune...
Hey guys i bought a used 2008 m3 about 6-7 months ago and found out that it had a bmc filter in it... so i bought a pair of Rpi scoops a month after owning. Then a few months later i bought a Rpi GTM axleback and was told that the car had a previous exhaust on it either gintani or Agency power i was told because who ever cut it cut it uneven...so after seeing how this person had mods i sorta want to find out if it does have a tune... on a dynojet i did 356whp with scoops filter and axleback... Anyone know how to tell ? I was told try to see how high the rpms can rev but i wanted to know if any other alternative way. I was planning on doing a X pipe setup and if i had a tune that would be a $$ save Thanks for reading this and helping me! been searching and cannot find any results

Other than taking a read of your ECU it would be tough to confirm. The RPM increase is not something everybody requests and/or most tuners can successfully implement, but the removal of the top speed limiter is something that is easy and most do. Though not something that is easy/legal to test!
Either way you will be best getting a new tune if you add an xpipe as any normal tune won't be suited to it... also, the old tune might be based on mods that are no longer on the vehicle (you mentioned the old owner most likely had an exhaust on) so might not be optimal. |

well if you think it has a tune, put the xpipe in, if you dont get a check engine light, you have a tune, also like paul said, most if not every tune out there delimts the speedo so if the car can hit over 160 there is a tune, be safe if trying it out!

well, one indications, as it is with some tunes, when you start the car, the SES light doesn't come on with the rest of the lights
I've heard about this on some tuned cars

I remember hitting 155 on a track :P and it felt like it could keep going I stopped as soon as I hit it though also my power mode sometimes randomly comes on when I start the car ... Idk if it has anything to do with it though
