Although being pricey I think that's a great option. In combination with the bluetooth option it's a really nice integration for an iphone:

It opens to the size of a reasonably wide can or bottle.

Reasonably sturdy, but I rekon could still cause spills.

hahah form over function. Just like the garmin gps will probably be better or as good the bmw nav but the factory nav looks so much better.

Omg that is genius. I may get my ass back on the m3 waitlist just for that cup holder. Wish they have one in the front so I can impress my friends with. N/M the engine... check this out...

Various ?s

Hey FM, thanks for your time, the great words and the variety of good pics. I have a couple questions on the comfort access and keys, etc. Maybe some 3 series owners can chime in on some points as well.

1. Did you get comfort access?
2. Did you get EDC (sorry if you already mentioned that)?
3. Did you get M Drive? (ditto)
4. Which settings can be programmed to a key, seat position, seat side bolsters, mirrors, engine power setting, steering setting, DSC, EDC, etc. The recent pdf south posted mentions this is possible for "some" settings only.
5. Did you happen to get two fobs and have them programmed differently? How is that working?

Thanks much

Hi Swamp,

I didn't get comfort access as, being a launch car, I had to accept the spec. of the car as it came delivered from BMW. I had originally specced my car with Comfort Access, but to be honest, I'm not sure that I would bother now. It's $800 over here and I think I can cope with pressing a button on my key every now and again...

As for EDC, I would highly recommend it, as there is a huge difference between Comfort and Sport settings. It really changes the feel of the car and I think will be highly sought in used cars, affecting resale values quite strongly.

M-Drive is standard on cars over here and, being one of the key features of the car, I would be surprised if it wasn't standard in all markets. If not, as with EDC, I think it's somthing that the resale market would expect on the car. The advantage of being able to change all the settings on the car at the touch of a single button is huge. believe me, you would soon get fed up changing everything manually.

A lot of the user controlled settings can be programmed to each key. The trouble is, I have a habit of just grabbing whichever key I find first, so I sometimes get into the car and find that everything is different to the way I last set it up. Things like seat position, mirrors, radio settings, M-Drive are all specific to a certain key. The rear view mirror and steering wheel settings are manual, so they are obviously not remembered, but all the important things seem to be there. Now that my girlfriend is driving the car more often I will probably make sure that I set one key for her and another for me. They seem to hold individual settings well, so I'd imagine that will make life easier...

Hope that helps!

Thanks for that. So just to be clear, throttle, DSC and EDC are, but steering boost is not memorized by your key and all of this memorization is independent of comfort access? Also you said mirrors are stored but then later mirrors are not stored. Obvisouly I am only talking about side mirror positions here. Also any idea if seat width is stored or didn't you get the width adjutable seats? Cheers again.

Okay, just to clarify... steering is stored under the M-Drive and these settings are stored with individual keys. This is independant of comfort access. The wing mirror settings are stored, as these are electric, but the rear view mirror is not, as it is adjusted manually. I believe seat width is also stored - it comes as part of the standard electric seat package in the UK car.

Phew! Hope that covers everything!
