Getting alignment tomorrow

I take it the rear has camber adjustment? Asking cuz my prior car did not (at least OEM).

So if I end up -1.5 to maybe -1.75 up front, where do I want the rear? One person said -1.2 and another said keep more negative than front. If its not adjustable we're done.

Yep, had it done yesterday.

Front were -1.8 and -2.0, pins pulled on some type of blue springs.

Rears were -1.6 and -1.7, evened them out at -1.7.

Car had a slight pull to the left...and still has a slight pull to the left. Might be a front tire. We'll see.

Zero toe front, .2 total toe rear.

So has any body had any issues with rear end noises when the car gets hot? I've got an interesting noise coming out of what sounds to be the right rear of the car. It happens typically when the car is hot, and only on hard left hand turns.

It sounds almost like a rubbing brake pad, but it happens on both stock pads, track pads, stock tires, and track tires. There's no visual evidence of anything rubbing in the wheel well or on any suspension components.

You can hear the noise here:

It happens at 0:44 and 1:57. I've got no clue, maybe wheel bearings on the right rear? The halfshafts seemed OK, with no abnormal play within the CV joints.

I've not added it, and I don't have any service records complaining of the noise from the previous owners.

I've only just started to notice the problem. It's not happened at previous track days or autox's. Might it be possible that the diff fluid has broken down enough to start creating this issue?

Anything different with the setup? Did you finally try 285s all the way around?

Did some investigatory work this past weekend and the results will be time consuming for me. The bottom of the dust shield on the passenger side rear brake shows signs of rubbing from the bottom side of the brake disc E-brake drum. The alarming part is it's only the bottom of the bracket that rubs when hot and only on hard left hand turns.

I also turned my radio down finally and shifted into low gear and took a hard left turn... and got to listen to the soothing signs of a failed wheel bearing. 51,000 miles on a 2011 and there's already a failed wheel bearing? I didn't realize I bought a C4/C5 Corvette....

Anyways - time for my first m3 wheel bearing R&R. Fun.

If you are asking relative to Nat's, I adjusted the nut behind the wheel. Proud to have gotten it done in the first three even thought afternoon runs were dry although my last run of the day was less than .02 off my fastest. If you are talking about since the Tripod, I'm not on the Rival S (sold immediately after) and ran the 265F/285R RE71R's which are getting a bit long in tooth. I'm going to experiment with whether the 285's can be mounted up front (doubtful) next year.

Easy to just use the rear 285 and try on the front. I accidentally put the 295/30 ad08r in the front (10 by 18 et25) and it was FINE! Dropped it and actually drove it around (tight radius) no rub...

Granted am running Bilsteins (may be a contributor to this).

For anyone looking for Apex wheels, they're running another group buy for 18" ARC-8s: https://www.groupbuyparts.com/index....s-q4-2016.html

I think I'm in a position where I won't be able to get a 2nd set of wheels. So I'm thinking I'm going to slap some RE71Rs on my zcp 19s and daily drive them. (I have a real short commute)

Can anyone tell me the largest tire size I can fit on the stock 19 zcp wheels? Is 275/35/19 too tall up front? Can I fit 285/35/19 or 295/35/19 on the back?

275/35-19 is too tall up front. You need to go to a 30 profile on the 19's if you want to go wider than 255 up front. 285/35's will fit in rear but are a bit too tall and will rub, you want 285 or 295/30's instead same story. The sizes of RE71R that will work on the M3 in 19" are 255/35-19 up front, and 275/35-19 or 305/30-19 a possiblity n the rear though it would be pinchy.

If it were me, I'd just do the 255/275 and call it good

I have my TR Motorsport wheels for sale in this thread. These work great for non-ZCP cars in street class -- light and strong. They are in almost unused condition excepting one small chip on one wheel -- see pics. I ran them with the TR recommended 18mm spacers, which if someone here wants to run them in autox I will include the spacers and the longer bolts plus BMW center caps for the $975 shipped price.

Alright, need some help!

Looking at getting (another) set of ARC-8's to get back to FS. Seeing as the Pax number for 2017 will be 0.802. LInk to the new numbers|http://http://apexjunky.com/2016/11/rick-ruth-releases-2017-pax/

I'm a bit confused about the offsets I would need to get in 8.5/9.5 wide 18' wheels. Apex offers et38 and et45 in 8.5 widths and et22, et35, et58, et62 in 9.5 widths.

For whatever reason I can't get my head around what spacers (if any) I'll need to be within +/- 7mm of the Stock: front:8.5 et29, Rear 9.5 et23

Front stock is et29 and apex offers 18/8.5/et38, I'll need a 5mm spacer?
Rear stock is et23 and apex offers 18/9.5/et22, fine without spacer?

Does 'et' just equal mm from the hub? Do I have this reversed?

Once I get this sorted I'll be ordering some tires as well. I was thinking RE71's 275/35/18 all around. As well as ordering the Dinan sway bar and pulling the front pins. Am I missing anything? CAnadian nationals are going to be hosted by my local club this year and I want to give it all I can!

Thanks!

You could use a 3-15mm spacer (effective et 35-23) with the et38 8.5" front. Lower number = outer rim is poked further out from the hub. I would use a 10 or 12mm front spaced with that wheel. 10mm with an et38 wheel is effectively et28 or et26 with a 12mm. A little extra front track wouldn't hurt.

The et22 9.5" is perfect with no spacer

Also Chuck is selling his TR MT1 wheels in the correct sizes with spacers; these are the wheels I ran in Stock and they are as light or lighter than Apex. If I were oh I would just buy them. Enkei made them they are jwl certified wheels. He used 18mm all around I used 15 front and 12.5mm rear when I ran them.

Depending on the lot you run on and how fast the courses are you might want to try the 285/30-18 re71r on the rear. The 8.5" wheel might make mounting it up front a pain but it would fit if the tire will mount up. If not the car tolerates disparate sizes front and rear very well. The shorter gearing and extra width relative to the 275 might help if your courses have lots of slow digs

I posted some on the car pictures of the TRMotorsport wheels in my sale thread. I have some 219Ms here also, and it's astounding how heavy they are by comparison (i.e. TRM 8.5" is 18.6lbs while the 219M 8.5" is 24.6lbs).

dab_of_oppo, if you're thinking about the Dinan front sway bar, they are having a 10% off sale with free shipping (might just be USA addresses, not sure) through this weekend.

Regards,
Chuck
