Just another note it also depends on what their salesperson told them. "You buy from us and when you bring your car in you will get a BMW loaner" so this is whats expected. This is where your relationship with your CA comes into play. People think that a CA is nothing more than a car salesperson......it is true there are those but then there are professionals that actually take their job seriously.

My clients would call me before bringing cars in for service or in a situation like this when the car is towed in. I would make sure they don't have to deal with the usual hassle of bringing in their car and working with the SA. In this situation if we didn't have a BMW loaner I would put them in a brand new demo and send them on their way, while others would be sitting and waiting for their pickup from enterprise.

While it isn't a big deal, I felt the same way as the OP when I bought my first BMW. Whenever I had to take my car in for service at lexus, I ALWAYS got a new model lexus loaner. Not sure if BMW dealers are too cheap to provide enough BMW loaner cars or if BMW's just have way more problems than Lexus. They used to give out loaners for routine oil changes without more than a day's notice.

Your thought process is interesting brother. You're okay with your brand new car dying on you, but the loaner you received was your boiling point.

I don't know about you, but if my 2011 ANYTHING didn't start after making weird ass noises for awhile, I wouldn't be upset bc I got a truck as a loaner. I'd be upset bc I would want to know WTF is my brand new car dead.

Loner car: for those days when you just don't want to talk to anyone. Just drive.

it's not like brand new car died is acceptable and get a truck as a loaner is not acceptable... this whole situation is disappointed with BMW. I think dealership could care more about this situation. My first brand new BMW won't start and it is first time to bring car in to dealer, where I purchased car, I mean they could some extra care for my wife instead of giving her pick up truck... I know it is lucky to have loaner car. I might be cry baby but this is how I feel~

I could maybe see being upset at not getting a loaner at all but geez, you are complaining cause you didn't get the right body style of loaner.

I think that some people here forget that our BMW's are TRANSPORTATION. Nice style , but still just TRANSPORTATION. They gave you replacement TRANSPORTATION while your car was being serviced. Sorry but you sound a little "spoiled" to me

Nothing to do with the service of the vehicle yet?....

k I will wait until it becomes important

I guess BMW has a "sense of entitlement" option....check.

Dealership should have read the memo.

Really? You made an entirely new thread about service on your X5 on an M3 forum with the words "very disappointed" in the thread title. Sounds like some to me.

Remember back when an SUV was supposed to be a big tough truck? Now people are complaining that they don't get some luxobarge for a loaner at the last minute to replace their SUV.

I don't understand... What does the fact that your wife was taking your child to school have to do with the fact that they gave you a pickup? You don't think your 3 year old should be exposed to the shame of riding in a pickup? Waaaaaaaahhhh.
Most loaners are arranged ahead of time. Short notice, you're lucky to get whatever you get. Stupid thing to whine about.

Hmmm... To each his own but I don't see anything wrong with driving a pickup truck. My gf sure wouldn't mind it either and she's the girly girl type. I personally think the dealership gave great service to you OP. For the 2 years I have owned a BMW, the service has been good (maybe not the most polite, but still good). I have not had to wait longer than I should for service and repairs. Next time, maybe you should make an appointment with them beforehand so you can get one of their loaners.

This reminds me of my experience shopping around for my M3 at a local BMW dealership. When I told the CA that I'm taking my business elsewhere(quote was $1000 over invoice, saying it was invoice), he told me that I wouldn't get a loaner from his dealership because I didn't buy from his dealership. I was like, I wouldn't go there for service anyway. When I picked up my car from Northwest BMW in MD, they told me that every BMW dealership should give me a loaner when having my car in for service without exception(this is granted you make an appointment ahead of time). Now, I drive an hour away to Flemington BMW(NJ) to get my car serviced. For my 1200 mile service, I just stayed at the dealership checking out other models, looking at accessories, and what not. They offered a loaner, but I declined. It was superb customer service.

I think OP got great service considering it was an emergency, not a scheduled appt. I'd be more upset about a 2011 model car not starting. Now, that's a whole another thread.
