Mike from F1Autohaus shipped me a set of Philips Ultinon Flash Star 6700K D1S HID bulbs. The color is a substantial improvement over stock. On star up, the color is light blue with a slight hint of purple. After the lights are warm, the color turns into a bright, cool blue-ish white. I wanted to achieve the same look as Acura TL and TSX lights, which in my opinion, are the best HID lights I've seen. With these 6700K bulbs, I believe I achieved the look I wanted. The roads are so much more bright now. The bulbs put the stock orangish HIDs to shame. Mike also carries these Philips bulbs in 6000K and 8500K. Overall, I recommend the bulbs. It is probably one of my favorite mods that I have done.

Nah, I like my $20 GP Thunders. Although I'd love some HID angel eyes, I don't feel the need to spend big money on something that I'll never be able to see and enjoy myself.

Just out of curiosity, does Philips really make 6700K? I thought 6000K Ultinon is highest they made.

They are not brighter. Its just an optical illusion created by the difference in contrast. The highest lumen output lamp is 4100k or 4300k. Going up to 6000k results in close to a 20% reduction in lumen output. Not sure what the specs on a 6700k lamp is but the higher in color temperature you go the lower the output gets. As far as I know, the highest color temperature used by any manufacturer as OEM is 4300k which is a Philips lamp. Color shifts can also be created by the reflector system so that could be what you were seeing from the Acura headlights.

Based on Philips specs, 6000K = 2400 lumens, 4300K = 3200 lumens.

As 808MGuy was explaining, the blueish color you see from "Acura" HIDS is nothing more than Projector refraction. I believe all auto makers are "Now" using 4100k bulbs. At one time some did use 6000k bulbs. Blame the DOT for this. The blue looks good, but there is always a drop in lumen as the K-temp goes up.

Yes, they are real Philips 6700K bulbs. I can take a picture of the original box if you guys need proof. The housing on the bulbs are also marked with "Philips."

As for increased light output, it may be an optical illusion. But in reality, when I'm driving at night, I can see the road much more clearer. Things appear more distinct and brighter to me. I understand that the science says that maximum light output is around 4300K, but for practical purposes, the 6700K seem to be a better lighting solution and are a huge improvement over 4300K.

I agree with you about driving with them. I never liked the color output from 4100k bulbs. I prefer 4300k or the 6000k color from after market HID kits.

4300k+ sucks for rainy weather tho, can't see shit on the road especially the painted lines

CLEAN!!!! How long time did it take you to install them? Was it plug and play? Was it hard?

Install by my shop took 30 min. You have to remove both wheels and the fender lining. After that, you just reach in and disconnect the old bulb and swap with the new one. It is plug and play.

actually you dont even need to take the wheels off, just jack it up, turn the wheel to full lock and you can access the panels took me 30 mins as well, quite straightforward.

I also have the 6700K phillips and im quite happy with them as well... they go great with the LUX H8 rings

thankfully everywhere i drive pretty much is lit at night with roadway lighting....

Are you serious??? Remove fender lining? When did the lighting system in the M3 become so hard to access? With the E46's, all you had to do is pop the hood and remove the back cover. WTF?!
