I payed $73,000.00 USD for my 2007 M5 with 7800 miles on it.
Think I will keep it. $80K would be ABSURD!!

Clean. I have a thing for M5 wheels. I did have a thing for M6 wheels, but that seems to be fading.
I would entertain a M5 but am looking for a coupe.

Well, it's 3:30 here now, so...12:30 out there? Isn't that right? Someone just run over there real quick like and see if the price isn't there.

If the price was there, we would have heard about it by now from many different sources. That means they aren't releasing...

They must not be releasing the price yet.

Speculation runs that the longer BMW waits, the more chance the dollar has to rebound against the Euro. However, the dollar seems to be losing ground continually, so this may turn out to be counterproductive.

No price

No price. We would have heard about it long before now if it was going to be available at the show.

A more detailed report following but in short the BMW folks at the booth were fairly clueless. They claimed no word on the [sic] "SMG" transmission yet . One fellow suggested no pricing until Jan-Feb and possibly not even until after folks spec and order their own cars. What an insult. You "have to" place an order before knowing the price. Give me a break BMW. This same fellow said the reason they are not releasing the price is the dollar-euro exchange rate. I think he made that up or heard it from some he thought was clever and is not repeating it.

Folks at the Mitsubishi booth were much friendlier, more knowledgeable about the Evo MR and much more willing to put ranges on base prices.

I see this working out very poorly for BMW should they go down this path.

First of all, I think that only a few, very dedicated "M fans" would be willing to order this car without actually having the full details of base price and specific option prices. This then would open up the door for spec'ed cars sitting on dealer lots when those who ordered found out the car was much more expensive than they imagined. We would see M3's sitting next to M5's and M6's, all with outrageous price tags for what the US customer is getting.

I also believe that BMW is very much running the risk of totally ostrasizing previous e46 M3 owners by way over-pricing the new M3. Enthusiasts who were willing to pay mid-50's to 60 for an M3 will NOT poney up 70 or more for the new e92 M3. American buyers who ARE thinking about spending that much cash on a ride likely aren't looking at the M3 as it does not have the prestige or image of a car that expensive in the US. I've read a lot about BMW upping the image/level of the 3 series in the US, but it is very very hard to move a car upmarket in the US without time and major league modifications. BMW have not yet done this for the M3, in my opinion.

Long story short, American buyers who can afford the M3 are too smart and savvy to spec and order this car without full disclosure of base price and options price. If BMW thinks otherwise, it will just be one more reason why the e92 M3 might be destined for a sales failure in the US.

Well, I have to call as well. They released the 1-series pricing for the US market.
I think it is total crap that they release everything about the 1-series before the M3.

In the UK the difference between the basic M5 and M3 is about 30%.

So if you use the same calculation, it should give you a "ruff" price of the M3 in $$$$$$$$.

Whatever the cost you guys will still be paying way less than we do over here.

How much was the RS4 in the US?

Agree. A 135i is, what, ~ 35k and a quick, sporty and fun car.. the m3 is not over 2x worth of 135i's, IMO.

BMW USA also know what base Carrera sells for - if the m3 ends up being $75-80k then I *am* looking at low mileage Carreras - w/ all the 40+ years' cachet of one of the most iconic models in the car pantheon

So I call on $80k too...

Although it may say mid 60s on the AudiUSA site, I haven't seen a new RS4 for less than $73k.

I have seen those prices too - but it's amazing what some behind the scenes trading is showing. A mate of mine looked for a while - could have got one w/ less than 1k miles for $66k; and in the end secured a silver RS4 (so, not a crap colour) w/ 7k miles for $60k - in Dallas. Not bad, eh. So, no need to jump at $73k if you can be patient - and I plan to follow the same plan w/ my next car (whether used 911 or M3 - preis is key on this!)

BTW, check edmunds and put in 2007 RS4 - it gives a trade-in of $51k and dealer price of $58k,
