Got keyed?
As I approached my car last night when leaving work, I noticed something on the passenger side door. The closer I got, the more noticable it became. I got keyed!!! I am sooo pissed! It's all the way down to the bare door and about 8-10 inches long. I've had my 330i since Sept and this is the third time something has happened to my car. The first time, someone covered my antenna with purple nail polish (who carries around purple nail polish?). And the second time, someone backed up in a parking lot and hit my rear end and took off (I noticed it when I came back to my car). I mean come on!! Is this to be expected driving a BMW or is this just a stretch of bad luck? Do you guys have similar experiences? Maybe I did something to piss off the BMW gods (I did red line it a couple times before 1,250 miles)?

i did have some asshole backed into me, but i'm pretty sure it was just an accident, no hate damages like you describe. that sucks, man! maybe consider moving out of the area? maybe it's the same person?
sorry man, that sucks, hope you get it resolved and/or find a place with a garage.

also, search this forum for "keyed" or "paint damage" or something similar. you can get some good advice about how to go about repairing the damage.

I think it has nothing to do with you car make.I'd look into an ex girlfriend's who were bitter about you dumping her or someone you had a dispute with.I'm more inclined to think it's a girl because guys usually don't cary around purple nail polish.Sorry to hear that, who ever did that is a coward.Have the damage fixed correctly so there's no reminder of what happened that'll help you move on and find a different place to park your car evn if you have to walk a couple blocks.

1. The nail polish incident happened at a Blockbuster 2. The rear end happened at Nordstroms 3. The keying  happened at my Bank. I highly doubt it was the same person b/c they would have to be following me. |

Did Baron refer you to K.C. Color? A co-worker used them to repair dings and dents just prior to a lease turn in. Price quoted was a lot less than other body shops, and I didn't examine the work all that closely, but they were happy with it.
Just a thought. |

Bad karma?
I'm sorry to hear about your car. A similar thing happened to me last week. I had parked my car on the street a few nights last week and when I went to get in it Friday I noticed something on the hood. Sure enough, some @%&$ keyed my hood. It's about 2 ft. long and it's deep! No buffing this one out! I've had my car since November and am absolutely sick about this. I just want to catch these people once. Just once. It happened to my old A4 twice! Anyway, I'll fix it once the weather gets a little warmer. I wonder how much it will be? Thankfully this will fall under my comprehensive policy as vandalism and not go against my insurance. That's if it will be over $500. Anyway you look at it, it kills me!

KC, that sucks. Maybe its the area. Possibly people view you as an elitist since you have a new BMW and they have nothing. So in their ignorant minds they decide vandalizing your car will make them feel better about their pathetic life. My suggestion, move to Southern Cal where everyone drive a BMW and no one will take the time single you out for vandalism.
I’m not saying everyone in KC is this way. A city with a greater number of low income people you will eventually have some of those people lashing out in immature ways. An in a place where a BMW is considered an “exotic” car you become the target. |
