Guys I need help...08 M3 Coupe....Mid range to high range RPM accelerating I get a chirping sound with minute vibrations from the engine compartment as if something is loose in the engine compartment or a small hole in the exhaust (there are no holes in the exhaust)....Anytime I step on the throttle the harmonics start.
Any ideas? There is no power loss but sure feels like it.... |

Exhaust leak will be a ticking sound that speeds up as you rev the motor.

Thanks....but it doesnot seem like a ticking sound, its more like " sounds like babies or kids blowing bubbles"...Excuse the weak expression, but the best I can describe it...Cheers

Lol I have the same experience in my 08' with OEM exhaust mod, MS Stage II intake and Evolve tune! Car drives perfect and no one else notices it but me!

I thought possibly my intake cover was loose, macht schnell scoops loose. But I checked both and see no issues lol. It's only when I'm beating on car do I hear it faint, if my car was louder I totally wouldn't hear it. I know it's not from the engine so I'm still enjoying the car. What mods do you have done to your car 747?

AA full exhaust (mid section and catless) AA flash and under pulley. AFE filter. The intake was a key issue. Aparenttly the clamp on intake elbow was protruding on the intake cover box (the lip was not totally sealed). Refitted everything this morning and elimintated a major part of the harmonics. I still have a minor sound but definitely coming from an area other then the engine bay.
Thank you guys. |
