It does have good power and some handling. Interior is one of the worst ever made which is where you spend your time. I wouldn't get one over the M personally.

Just get a newer M3 and be done with it.
I looked at the Boss 302 also, but I knew that I would not be happy with it a year from now. But as Nine said, get what makes you happy.

I have a couple of friends that have them, and they are happy guys. Appear to be an excellent car for the money. It's likely that an M3 is a better daily driver. I understand you wanting out of your high mileage out of warranty M3. Try to get a decent test drive before you buy.

Rent a Mustang-something and drive it a day or two...
to get a feel for the car/chassis. I haven't driven a Boss but the regular 5L is a decent car. The interiors do suck compared to anything from DE so regardless of performance I'd have issues with them for daily use. I rent them occasionally and they are tolerable in small doses... good effort by Ford but there is a lot to be missed compared to a BMW imo.

Buy a used C6 z06. It's better than a mustang in every single way.

Ive driven the boss on track, its alot of fun! Handling is a bit more raw, but still much better than any previous mustang. The torque and exhaust note are also highlights, but....the interior is plastic, the lone highlight being the recarros.
My friend sold his boss after 6 months, didnt have the street status he was looking for! Went for the M6. |

The new GT500 is a beast, but not under 45k with the creature comforts
The 5.0 is a pretty fast car, a lot faster than some give it credit for, but yes the interior isn't all that great. I saw a Boss 302 on the lot yesterday when I took my truck in for service. Wanted to check it out but didn't have time. I've heard good things though. Go for a test drive and see how you like it.

With a warranty or without?
Porsche 996TT Porsche 997 BMW M5 or M6 with 6 speed Mercedes C63 Mercedes E55 AMG Ford Mustang 5.0 Corvette Z06 Cadillac CTS-V Audi S4 Audi RS4 Of those, I personally would be most closely looking at the Mustang, the Mercedes and the Porsche. |

I love this generation mustangs for the performance. If I was buying a new car today It would be a 13' GT-500 most likely. BUT the interior needs work. If you don't mind that then go for it. BOSS 302 is a beast. I bet the aftermarket mods are going to be large too.

Keep the ///M, get an extended warranty and save the money for your kids. Having 3 kids these days, can't be cheap. Especially if they want to go to college... Just a thought

Evos are nice, have a back seat, and can be cheaply modified.

Mustangs might now be just as fast as an M3, or in the case of a Boss, even slightly faster, but consider the change from BMW to Ford. When insideline.com evalutated their mustang GT after only a few thousand miles in california, they raised the car, and took pictures underneath the car. You could clearly notice the primitive suspension, as well, as rusting metals. Ford used low grade metals underneath that car. They also should have put some plastic under the car for aerodynamics, and to protect the metals from the elements/salt.

If you have a link to that article I'd like to read it. Don't do it. The Ford may be faster but the BMW is...a BMW. When you get home from work you can turn around and either say, yup there's my Ford, build with cheap Ford parts because they can't afford their labor unions, or you can say, yea that's my BMW, and they spared no expense building it. |

I wouldn't bother with the Boss. Not worth the extra cash over the regular 5.0 GT. That said, I can't stand the interior (I'm not picky about interiors either) so I couldn't drive one no matter how fast it is or how well it handles.
