I quoted the 50 number a while back (in the now missing 2nd GB tread) and was told it was more like 75. Either number is likely close enough. Shep and Chuck know for sure.

SZ et al, have you guys considered buying a set of silvers (lucid has a set up for sale) and having them powdercoated? The finish won't be as good as the factory finish, but it might be pretty damn close.

Food for thought...

I thought you had 50 in your first GB and 25(ish) in the second?

I sold the RACs. xrayos has a silver set up for sale though in FS section.

So what happens when you crack one? I guess you'll be on the market for new wheels?

Cracking a 8000 ton forged wheel is not an easy task.

RAC keeps some reserves I think for that sort of thing, which is not very likely to begin with, but check with them. Also, if you are really concerned you can buy 1.5 set. xrayos has an extra 0.5 set FS if you are really concerned.

Here's what Shep said in a thread here earlier about repair/replacement: Regarding spares, there are usually a few around. That said, in 9 years I think we have seen 3 wheels, total, that were not repairable. All were from major accidents or extreme track use. With 8000 ton forging most any bend is fixed quite easily. This particular wheel, with the flange we used to manufacture it, is about as strong as a wheel can be built, and, it meets the NEW JWL and VIA spec's for the E9xM3. I do not know of any other wheels that do. Many others are simply not certified.

Here's the link to Shep's post: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...3&postcount=37
