So are you saying 270km is the max speed the M3 will go? I know I saw a Utube video and he broke 300km, I wonder if it was modified?

the best o've been able to do is around 95. the roads in seattle are always clogged and so there's little-to-no opportunity to open it up a bit. have to take my car on a drive out of town i guess.

Though I did read somewhere that in the S5 if you held it at the speed limiter for a bit of time it relaxes and allowed you to put through it. Never did get the opportunity to try it out myself just to see if there was any truth in it. |

My M3 consistently accelerates up to 170 mph on the speedo before the power cuts out. Power isn't really "cut", but it is limited enough that you can't get past 170. There is still plenty of power to keep accelerating, so it is a noticable event when the speed limiter steps in.
BMW claims it is limited to 155, so I would tend to believe that the speedo is just off by 15MPH at that speed. Here are a few pictures of the speedo at the point power cuts out...(on the Autobahn, of course) EDIT: This is a US spec car with no mods

How about checking your GPS in the NAV, if you have it. I know the GPS does not lie, provided you have NAV in your vehicle. I also believe their is a max speed marker, so you don't have to stare at the 2nd Hump, as your blasting at 165+mph...
I have about 350 miles to break in. I can't wait. Regards, Michael
