Would the Beast e92 M3 be a good Daily Driver

Would the M3 be costly to drive daily. I mean Im guessing V8 will be 14 mpg in real life, plus taking this around town with big worries of parking it and all.

Any 335i coupe buyers reconsidering a new M3 instead?

I'm seriously considering it as a daily driver.

The clutch is fine once its broken in. No different than any other E46 really. Although the clutch in my wife's E90 is super light so compared to that it might feel a little stiff, sure.

I've got over 100 thousand daily driven miles on my E46. Its a great daily driver. And that's through all four seasons. Most people who don't think M3's make good daily drivers are the people who have not actually tried doing it, IMHO. Of course, we are all different and have different levels of tolerance. Frankly, I cannot understand how people can live with a 6000lb land barge as a daily driver, or a cheap economy car that makes you feel as you are driving a marshmallow on a waterbed for that matter.

Depending on mix of city/highway I get 20mpg to 24mpg. Its not great but really, who cares? Do people who can comfortably buy a $60k car really worry about gas mileage? If you do you better be absolutely sure that the M3 is the right car for your budget before jumping into it. Just my honest opinion. Now, the new V8 might get worse mileage but we are not talking anything too dramatic, IMHO. Its not going to be like a Hummer or Mucielago. Probably no worse than an S4, whatever mileage that might be.

My brother has an H2. That tank has a 30 gallon fuel tank and he's lucky if he gets 200 miles out of it. Yes, that means 6.5MPG. NOTHING is worse than a Hummer. He drives all city but he's no where near being considered a spirited driver. He's your normal driver.

Just realized you were the OP, aes2dais. IMHO, forget both the 325i and E46 M3 and get a new E92 or E93 M3. I don't know your situation exactly, but whatever you spend a month on both those rides, the E9X M3 won't possibly come anywhere near that. Drive you E46 daily for a month - you'll see its not a problem at all. E9X will be no worse, IMHO.

Ase, come on man, if you are concerned about mpg and not hp then an M3 is not for you....................

If you want both then get a 335i and up the boost like crazy with a chip too..............

Bottom line is performance and mpg do not get along.......

Unless you get a Lexus GS450h hybrid.......but then is an electric car something that you really want???? And it still doesn't handle like the cars from Munich.................

It will be my daily driver for sure. Tell you the truth I've never even thought against it.

If I were to have a true "weekend" or fun car, it would probably be a pcar and I'd want a E60 5er or Audi A6 as a daily driver.

I am not in a financial situtaion right now that will allow that, so I will opt for the best of both worlds and drive my soon to be E92 M3 EVERY DAY!

If I pull the trigger

it'll be my daily driver as well. I think there should not be any real concerns about using this car as such. BMW won't make an M3 that is not suitable as a DD. One more great advantage of ZSG/SMG - auto mode for start/stop, jammed So. Cal. freeways, eating and driving, uninteresting girlfriend, etc....

The BMW M3 was made to be a daily driver.

The car is not a Ferrari.

Save the pampering for a TRUE exotic. The BMW M3 is not one.

I couldn't pay my car payment with a smile on my face if I didn't enjoy my car several days out of the week, it wouldn't be worth it to just keep in the garage.

ase, you have to remember its car and its meant to be driven!

I've got 30k miles/yr on my M3. Never had a door ding, but yeah tons of hood chips. But its been repainted and looks great.

Ask yourself, what's the difference between someone daily driving a $60k E500 or Escalade and someone daily-driving a $60k M3? Only difference is the M3 driver is having a shit-load more fun every day.

If you can't afford it, that's a good reason not to buy it. Especially if you'll be afraid to drive it.
