Possible M3 Issues - Paranoia?

Soo... only had the car for a few days, but here are some things bugging me or is it just me being a noob.

1. The inside smells like oil or petrol (don't know which) when the air is set to recirculation or automatic, slightly better if left open. Engine problem or the micro filter thingy needs replacing? My 335i didn't smell like anything even following a black smoking exhaust bus. Amazing!

2. A very small intermittent knocking tapping sound coming from near front underneath the car or a rattle? But seems intermittent when I left it to idle, whilst walking around taking pictures.

3. Clutch bite point seems high? Like I keep lifting and lifting then it catches the gear then it starts to drive? Or is just an easy, not so sensitive clutch pedal?

Can't think of anything else at the moment.

Thanks people.

Joe, did you buy the car privately or from the stealers ?

maybe the service is due on the micro filters(you can do yourself).

they do make some tapping noise when first fire up (as stated in the bmw manual).

can't help re- clutch as I have the DCT box .

From a BMW Specialists in West Sussex.

Is it easy to replace? I couldn't see anything in the engine to suggest a leak, but I'm an idiot on mechanics.

I might get a recording of the noise a bit later.

Awesome, will try that out and see if it cures the smell.
Online or cheap enough to get it from the dealers?

With regards to the clutch I find it to be quite light, but I wouldn't go as far to say the bite point is extremely high (I've done approx 10K miles). How many miles have been done on your car and I assume its the original clutch?

It's 42k, second hand. Seems fairly high compares to my 335i. So not sure if it's just a easy car to drive or there's an issue?

How high are you having to lift the clutch for it to bite? Like 70% of the way up?

Yeah around 70%. But to be honest, have been driving quite a few miles now and it doesn't seem to bad.

New things I've discovered, The car seems to make quiet a few clunking sounds when changing gears. Very difficult to describe. I will try and get a sound recording.

Isn't this button suppose to tell you the set cruising speed digitally when pressed? It did on my 335i but on the M3 it doesn't do anything.

That's the BC button on the indicator stalk but that's on the cruise control stalk with a dial gauge print on it. Like I said, on my 335i it would display the set cruise speed. Guess it's broken somehow.
