2012 E92 M3 or 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8?
Both of these cars occupy a special place in my heart, and every time I see either one, I'm in love. I've done a lot of homework on both cars, researched the respective numbers and figures, read up on several reviews, I even test drove an SRT8 Charger too, haven't gotten around to driving an E92 yet though. I'm just torn between them. I understand this is a BMW forum, but what do you guys think would be a better choice? I'm planning on using it as a daily driver, with VERY occasional track use. Not planning on modifying or tuning them much either, as of yet.

M3. The Challenger is a HUGE let down.

Agreed on every count. I took a ride in a new Charger this weekend. GREAT engine note, but man the rest of it felt cheap.

Zzzzzzzzzzz. Completely different levels of automotive sophistication. The only thing that may be somewhat comparable is the straight line performance.

No way would I do the Charger unless it was steeply discounted. Even then it is a huge car and styling is not to my liking. The only thing comparable with the M3 is straight line power.

Hello no to the Charger/Challenger. I'm not just saying this because I own an M3 either. Drive an M3 and you'll understand. There's no comparison to be made.

For some reason the Charger V6 gets a ZF 8AT while the SRT8 has a 5 speed auto. It is based on a Mercedes design dating back to the 96 E-class. TBH if you are going American you should look at a CTS-V.

Wow, guess I just fell in love with the Dodge then, you guys seem to find like no redeeming feature vs the M3. I will test drive an M3, though, probably get one too. Better quality, ride, handling, more luxurious, etc. And it doesn't come with a tranny made from the toenail clippings of an old E-Class.... but you gotta admit, that HEMI has quite the appeal. I heard it once and I was hooked on it, lol.

When I started looking around for the all around package, I knew I wanted the M3. Great handling car, fast, looks good, built strong, and interior is nice.... Doesn't really matter all that much but the M3, gets better gas mileage. Again, this is all from the 06 model. Don't know much about the new model.... As a former SRT8 owner, I would say M3 any day....

If you like torque, you will prefer the Charger. If you like to rev the engine way up to get power, you will prefer the M3. You may want to test drive a DCT M3 since it will do the shifting for you to best access that high rpm power.
