Too many M3's on Swapalease

There are 37 M3's for lease assumption on Swapalease. Wondering why so many people are selling their M3's.

In my opinion, a lot of people bought the car for the wrong reasons.

I'd think it'd be the obvious: people losing their jobs.

This. I'd like to know what those people got after the M3.

Out of about ~20,000 M3 sold in the USA in the last 3 years or so, 37 does not looks like "so many"...

I think the car is a magnet for overachievers and with bad economy maybe a few people overreached?

I think alot of people bought it thinking it's a very fast luxury car, not the ultimate driving machine. So they'll complain about the ground clearance, lack of torque, ride comfort, etc

They just realized that they got screwed on mileage and lease. This might be their only vehicle and no other dd which means they will soon be going over the allotted miles.

No way of ever quantifying, but I wonder what the ownership percentage of true enthusiasts or true M3 fans is vs those that wanted "the most expensive (aka best) 3er" as a status symbol. Side note, I bought mine used 18 months old with 12k on her at the time, she's my year round DD and I'll eventually strip her down for track whore duty long term. And she'll like it!

To me, the only way to have an accurate picture of whatever is going on with the M3 sales/leasing -if anything at all- is to calculate the total number nationwide of used E9x M3 for sale/lease and compare it with the total new sales up to date.

Taking 37 M3 on swapalease to be an indicator of something deeper/other than just 37 M3 on swapalease is meaningless to me. Just in this forum alone there could be 37+ members into their second E9x M3 -me included- so again this could mean just normal M3 lease early terminations based on individual conditions and nothing more.

When I bought my M3 in 2008 there were 1800++ unsold 2008 M3 nationwide when the 2009 M3 was already arriving at dealers. That was something deeper to be worry about for both customers and BMWNA.

This isn't.

The data is a little suspect in that there's also multiple dealer-lease offers in that 37...

same here. The fact that this will be the last of the NA V8's is the reason why I opted to buy vs lease.
