How to tell difference between E90&92 version of Akra

Hi,

I am just wondering if there is a way to differentiate the akra evo exhaust for the e90 and e92 version. I understand there is a code on both the muffler and the tips. The one I see is M-BME92H.

I just want to know if anyone can confirm if this one is the E92 Coupe version.

Thanks!!

I bought my setup used, it was supposed to be for an E90. My slip-on shipped in the original box which states it is for an E90.

Once installed, my tips stick out kind of far, which made me think it was possibly mislabeled. My mufflers have M-BME92H [e1] 0310547 stamp on them. My tips are carbon fiber and don't have any stamp on them (at least not without removing them)

OP, yes, that is the proper E93 slip-on from Akra. I have attached the parts diagram from the Arka website and it shows the muffler part # as M-BME92H. The tailpipe part number is TP-BME92H.

As for tjsabec, it does appear you have the E92 slip-on based on the part number provided. There is a separate document on the Arka website showing the E90 muffler as M-BME90H...

I've applied bold mark-up to the secret clues within the Akra part-numbering scheme.

OT: Is it me or do some Akras look silver and others (like mine) a faint gold or bronze?

You mean from the light gold/bronze to silver or silver to light/gold bronze? Because mine had the faint goldish hue right outta the box.

They're supposed to be silver brand new

As far as I know, they only change color with heat.

Hmm. Interesting. I doubt my setup was used, as the portion I looked at looked clean and perfect out of the box. But it definitely had the goldish tint to it like this:

Aren't the akra tips adjustable? If so then why wouldn't it fit all M3 variants like the AA exhaust?

I believe Akra changed the product number over time. Nowadays the mufflers are differentiated E90 and E92...it used to say E92 for both M3 models, the difference being the length at the tips if I remember correctly. I have the Evo under my M, and the mufflers say E92H.

Can you post pics of your tips? I suspect my mufflers are for the E90 and have the old model number like yours, but my tips stick out pretty far. Not sure if the carbon fiber tips are a little longer or not...

My mufflers have the same part number and the exhaust was purchased new. I can confirm that is the e90 part number.

The part numbers are exactly the same. There is no difference on the can to make sence of what is what. The only way to tell is to measure the outlet pipe off the muffler. I dont have the exact dimension with me but the e92 is 1.5" longer.

The exhaust tip part number is the same, but the muffler part numbers are different:

E90: M-BM/T/2H
E92/3: M-BM/T/3H

You are correct but if you dont have the original box there is no way to tell because even the e90 still says e92 on the muffler, I went back and forth quite a few times on buying a used one and Nate at INdy says the only way to tell is by measuring the tip because they are all marked the same.
Only the shipping box has the 2H vs 3H part number

Did you end up picking up an Akra rear section? I was just in Concord & Charlotte last weekend and was thinking of skipping away from the gf to meet up to talk cars or ride lol.

I have the Megan with TP's too... and changing to MRF so I think I will need to go Akra at some point as well. I have about 8k miles on my Megan and it sounds great, only a little bit of rasp at 4k but then its gone. How many do you have on yours? I probably only have heard my car from the outside like twice for very brief moments.
