335D v M3

Hi guys fairly new to this forum having bought a 57 plate 335D in December last year, now having come from a lifetime of VW's I'm beginning to wonder if I have made the right decision. The 335 is a lovely car very smooth and easy to drive being the auto,but...... I'm just not convinced.I don't think it's great on diesel either !!!
Now should I cut it in for an M3????
How much of a difference will there be???I guess that 20mpg is good for the M3.? Though I ain't buying an M3 for economy !!
Anyone gone from 335D to M3 and if so how do you find the transition ?
Do you think it was worthwhile?

Haven driven both extensively (own a M3) if you can afford the M3 and MPG is not an issue the M3 is a world apart from the 335d in terms of driving dynamics and fun factor. Test drive both if you are not sure. You will answer your own questions.

what !!in "london" traffic, you must be joking , I only get 16.6mpg in manchester ( with less cars on the road in rush hour than london)

and that the best figure in 3 years of owning my M3

by the way I worked in london for 10 years so I now what the traffic is like in central London

Mmm and how does a remapped 335D compare???

Maybe I haven`t made this clear enough I have the 335D,which I do quite like at the moment!!!However most of the comments I am getting are basically just go for it types WHY ??? What makes the M3 so much better than the 335D ??? What am I missing here ???

let put it another way, I know guys with 335d wishing for a M3, but guys with M3s dont wish they had a 335d

also saying "how does a rempped 335d compares" , then you should compare like for like...................so that be the M3 with a decatted system and a remap

Yeah I know what you mean the M3 has always been an iconic car with a real history through the years whereas the 335D doesn`t --isn`t

The 335D is cheaper however to tune in that a remap is only going to cost about £500 max whereas a decent decat system and a remap on an M3 is into thousands.Maybe a standard M3 doesn`t need any more power though?
As they say on Tool Time ........More POWWWWEEER

Its the whole package mate, on a straight bit of road you would wonder what the difference is! but if you drive the car and I mean drive it, the 335d just feels like a big heavy lump by comparison (you notice this on the corners). In my opinion the std e9x can't handle the torque properly. It just eventually pi**ed me off. I'm not saying by any means the 335d is a bad car but it is just a fast 3 series nothing too involving and for an everyday car brill.
The M3 is involving just remember on the test drive, you need to drive it properly you won't get that wow factor straight away like you did with the 335d/i. You have to work for it.

I sold my E60 M5 as simply could not live with the day to day running and bought a 335 M Sport and had it re-mapped within 2 hours of purchase and it was a fantastic car, BUT I like most of us here are petrol heads and as much as it made sense to keep and run I simply missed the sound of a powerful petrol engine and the enjoyability you can have when you want to have the made 10 mins on a back road!!
V8 all the way! Never looked back and just bought the wife a E61 530d as the family lugger! Happy Days

Right time to go and look at some M3's
Anyone seen or know of any good ones for sale.
Budget of about £30-£35,probably more if I don't tell the wife and buy a black one
She will never notice the difference
