Battery died Monday, INCREASED EMISSIONS SES light also came on

So the final time the car started (while I was on the way to BMW Knowing the battery was about to die) I got a SES light for INCREASED EMISSIONS. I searched the forum and found this happened to a couple of other people with the battery dead/dying. Could this be the reason I got the Increased Emissions error, because I have never had it happen before.

When the battery is dying in these cars, or any BMW for that matter, you may get all kinds of weird warnings and errors. Until it has been replaced and coded, I wouldn't worry about anything else.

I also had the increased emissions warning when my battery was dying; low voltage to the sensors throws them out of whack. For what its worth, when I was in there for a new battery, the dealer replaced my o2 sensors under warranty for the increased emissions even though I think it was unnecessary. Didn't pay for anything though so if they want to bill BMW NA, that's fine by me.

I'm in the same boat here. My battery is 4 years old and still going strong, no problems. Had a funny thing happen over the weekend, though. I installed the LCI tails and grabbed my laptop to code them, but I couldn't get the car to go into ignition on mode until I finally hooked it up to a battery tender. Anyone know if this is a warning sign of a low battery?
