the m3 is faster and better than the old 400 horse M5. the old m5 looked a whole lote better than the new one. and the new M3 is superior in every aspect.

You people don't understand until you do race a m5 2007.smg. I don't care m3 and a m5 are neck and neck untill 115mph. With a 6mt with filter and pulley and rpi scoops. From a 10mph roll or shot out the hole. There is no driver mistake on a 10mph roll. Many tries.. The m3 is underestimated. Now this is with a stock m5.

Modded M5>modded M3 for straight line performance.
Stock M5>stock M3 for straight line performance.
There is a modded M5 running sub 11 sec quarter on the M5board.
No question the M3 handles better, but all this talk about keeping up on the straights is silly...
I've been to the M Driving Experience twice, and there is no question that the M3 shines on the track that's set up at Spartanburg, it's a short track.
We all know that the M5 is not a track car, but a world class sports sedan.
The one thing that EVERYONE agrees on is the lack of torque in the M3 compared to it's class. So anyone who thinks that the M3 is a straight line burner is deluding themselves.

stock m5 smg will do 12.5's in the quarter. I said stock. Also look at the quarter mile times on a m3 e 92 coupe. Look it up. don't asume.

Then again the C63 with a tune gets that now I just wish our M3's had another 100lbs. of torque

The M5 is a much more intense and satisfying straight line experience. It was alright on the track. The chubs took away a lot of fun. It just felt efficient for its mass, not exciting.

In a straight line though...no comparison. The M3 simply doesn't compare, aurally or physically.

M5 and M6 are pretty much the same in the performance department. But I still think the M5 will pull harder from a roll even before 115mph, like this M6 did.
