E92 vs. Ferrari f430
Got a good run with a yellow f430 the other day. Had my gf with me. She claims she's 110.... I say closer to 125. He didnt launch in first and neither did I. Rolling in 2nd about 20mph then floored it. He put almost 2 car lengths on me to 65. Nice guy. Loved the sound of ferraris.

Just go for the VT2-650 and WMI - That'll take care of the Ferrari!

They aren't that quick. My friend and I did quite a few pulls and he was amazed that a sedan could stay that close. Beautiful cars, but they are becoming dated quickly IMO with the horsepower race going on between manufacturers.

No BMW shouldn't even be named in the same sentence IMO. That is like comparing a turbocharged honda civic to an M3. Unfortunately, most F-cars are garage queens and their owners are not going to push them, especially on a public road. If you kept up in your e90, then I would bet the F430 was just playing with you or didn't even take you serious. The base f430 is like 2976 lbs and 550hp. In order to achieve the same lb/hp ratio, an m3 has to have more 650 hp! When you take into account the f-cars chassis and aerodynamics advantage over the m3, the gap gets wider. -SZ Last edited by SUB-ZERO; 06-06-2011 at 12:50 PM.. |

this man speaks the truth. I was thinking about this today. No ferrari or exotic owner cares about anything less. IMHO...They are at the top of the food chain. It's just like people driving MB or BMW's and not giving a rat's ass about honda's, etc.. |

I only had the dry weight available to me when I made the post.
"F430 dry weight is 1350kg or 2975lb . Curb weight is 1450kg or 3196lb." So to correct my statement: An m3 would need more than 565hp (assuming a weight of 3704), in order to keep up with a F430. However, the F430 has a superior chassis and aerodynamics that will further widen the gap between the two. -SZ |

M3 and F430 should not be compared, other than mere amusement as suggested above. Did you know the M3 can smoke a Jetta by a couple car lengths to 65?

The F430 has 490 HP but weighs 2,976 lbs. It's faster than any M3. I've rented a F430 three times and it's faster than my E92/E90 M3. |

A Ferrari is just that, a Ferrari!!!! and there is no substitute. I could give two craps if some car is faster than mine. I could have spent less on a new ZR1 (Crazy Fast)....do you even dare to say the M3 can run with that.
I did not buy my Ferrari to be the fastest guy out there. But I can tell you the M3 is BORING BEYOND TEARS compared to it. And the M3 is a damned fine car. And no way in hell is the M3 close to as fast unless you want to dump $20K-$30K into it. And as much as I loved the M3 V8 it is a mere shadow of the Ferrari V8. So let's just agree that they are both great cars for what they are and leave it at that......Steve Last edited by needspeed; 06-06-2011 at 05:41 PM.. |
