New Xpipe CEL solution?

As some of you may or may not know, I recently listed my Akra Evo up for sale.

It was claimed almost immediately by a friend of mine after I posted it.

Anyways, I kept getting contacted about it (PMs, texts, emails..)...even though I listed that it had already been claimed (people don't seem to read posts...)

One person asked me an interesting question though (other than the usual, "best price" BS).... a question I wasn't able to answer.
I'm on the forums a lot, so I'm used to people PMing/Texting/Emailing me etc and asking a variety of questions, and more times than not, I'm able to answer them.

I was hoping you guys could help answer this for me:
Quote:
I noticed BMS has a SES Fix for the M3. I can't pay $400 for a Delete-R on top of the $3900. I don't want to tune my engine either... I'm scared the dealer will find out.
Does your car have a Tune? What Tune? What did it cost? What did the dealer say about it?

I think the BMS fix should take care of readiness testing as well?

What are your thoughts on this? Could I run this with the exhaust?

http://www.burgertuning.com/dpfix.html
Obviously, his questions about tunes isn't what I'm making a thread about.
That's something I can easily answer without an issue.

A proper mechanical 02 fix i.e. pulling the 02 out of the stream a little works fine. I ran no cats on my car for a while several times, and never got a cel...

O2 extenders or spark plug foulers do not work on this motor. They did however work on the S54 in your m3. This was one of the first things vendors tried when coming up with an X-pipe but without success.

As for the BMS fix, I haven't heard anything about it. Looks interesting since I do think that Akra Delete-R is pretty expensive for what it is.

IIRC.... these type of things don't work on the S65?

Yup, hence why I got a tune. Plus, speed delimiter is awesome... for you know, when I drive my dream car in dream Mexico

No idea... haven't heard about it for the S65, so I asked.

I had it on my N54 back in the day and worked great. The JB4 wasn't out then and you needed a DPFIX to run catless downpipes.

I believe there are a couple catless M3s running BMS' fix with great success. From my understanding this is the first time it was brought up here on M3Post.

There's a thread on [Admin Notified] about this if you're interested in reading.

yea i was about to say... doesnt matter what you do if you take the damn primary cat out... it will cause a cel... NOW or in months time...

example... all the aftermarket retailer that claimed that their xpipe does not give cel... BS IT FAWKIN DOES... ONE WAY OR ANOTHER IT SHOWS UP AND STAYS OR GOES AWAY AND IT ALWAYS COMES BACK...

ALTHOUGH SOME HAS LUCK WITHOUT HAVING THE CEL TO COME ON... BUT ITS RARE

quick solution and the only solution for our cars is to TUNE or DELETE R...

and yes the dealer will be able to tell if your car is tune or not... SHIT i had mine only coded for the LCI tails and the dealer saw that......

But to the OP yes if that works that is cheap ...

FYI: im waiting for the company to reply back and ill update you guys

you guys are totally miscontrued with your info, that I'm sure doesn't sound firsthand. I HAVE USED MECHANICAL ANTI-FOULERS ON MY E90 M3 and THEY WORK!!!

that being said, the BMS fix will def work as it is a electrical patch, 02 simulator.
But regardless of the vehicle, a mechanical o2 extender is just that, mechanical. It works by pulling the 02 sensor just far our enough of the normal path of exhaust flow, therbly creating a false reading (as it is now only pulling a portion of the original measured exhaust).
For those who are skeptics, buy the uber expensive Akra Delet-R..
For those mechanically inclined, try the 02 extenders, they work you just need the correct lenght to alter the reading to not draw a CEL; (they can be lenghtened or shortened)

***my sig pic is my old e46, I currently own an e90 m3 with lots of work done to it, all performed by me. My hobby has been building/working on cars since I was very little, and have owned over @ 25cars.

SO YES< FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE; THESE WORK FOR ME!!

BRO we know all that... a lot of owners have tried that and no luck it comes and go but most of us the cel will show up... it takes just time to... with a fouler...

now even with the delete r it comes and goes right away less than a minute or so...

As for the 90 degree elbows for your O2 sensors, I have spoken to many vendors in person about them. They all tried it, went through many variations when they did their prototyping, and still eventually got a CEL. You might not get one for a few thousand miles, but you'll still get one. Maybe there's something you know that none of them do though?

And fyi, as an example, the gintani x-pipe throws a CEL. It has foulers and even on an x-pipe with 300 cell hfc's, it will still EVENTUALLY throw an error.
