Low oil message

Need another quart after 4500 miles. The message came on Friday, went out of town and got in the M3 to drive to work and forgot to add oil. By the time I get home this evening, I will have got 150 miles after the initial warning. How long have you guys gone without adding the quart of oil?

Couple thousand miles. Depends on your driving style....

Do NOT overfill, it is VERY bad to overfill an M3. I usually underfill a little.

Also, you might want to keep a quart (10W 60) in your trunk, just in case you are out on a trip, because 10W 60 is not that easy to find.

think he missunderstood your question..Thinking you were asking how long do you drive before you'll need to add oil while you are asking "once you get the message, how long do you drive before you add"

WOW you must drive it crazy. thats insane. after the 1200 miles service so basically just right off 3k you needed to put one? ...

chillax a bit on the throttle and you will see a difference... i put a qt of oil usually after 10-12k miles.

Yeah... I meant between quarts of oil. After the warning indicator, ASAP.

But I check the oil daily and top off before the warning.

150 without topping up surely isn't going to be disastrous but you prob would want to add some soon! As others have said just don't go nuts and overfill, 0.25 ltr at a time would be ideal
