If u don't have the OEM primary cat then it will cause a cel....
And I believe the dinan set up don't have a cat and u will have to get a dinan tune so they won't flag ur car or void ur warranty I would explain more but I'm on iPhone

1. CEL will be on for sure as you'll not have any cats.
2. Dinan X-pipe is considered as "racing part" from Dinan which doesn't have any warranty to begin with. 3. Dinan racing software is also consider as "racing part" and no matching warranty comes with it. My dealer was cool with it but it's really up to them to warranty it or not since it's not covered from BMW or Dinan's warranty.

having your ecu tune by other manufacture and bring it in they will REG FLAG YOUR CAR SO FAST... since DINAN is partner with BMW.. they dont usually say anything..

I would confirm by calling Dinan for yourself but they told me that the racing/middle exhaust tune has their standard warranty.
I believe Dinan still has the best warranties (matches the BMW warranty) in the industry but I would not be surprised if the Dinan - BMW relationship is not as cozy as it was in the past..........now that BMW is providing their own performance after the sale products. |

Would there be a difference in sound getting dinan x pipe with Akra slip vs getting full Akra?
In other words, Would dinan xpipe w Akra slip sound exactly like Akra full? Is the unique sound strictly from the rear section? |

since the size of the resonators are different on both so sound will be different. but i dont think its going to be a big difference.

No, the Akrapovic x pipes sound different because they are sooo light and thin. They allow some more resonances out. I kind of like them. But, my Challenge sport X pipe made a very different sound.

This will all bolt up and should work but I recommend going either full Akra or Full Dinan. No sense in having half a Titanium system.
As far as Dinan vs Akra goes, the power gains are nearly identical and they are both virtually drone free systems with nice exhaust notes that are bearable on a daily driven car. Neither the Dinan or Akra will be better than the other as far as warranty is concerned. I recommend going with the Akrapovic Evolution system and Dinan software to prevent the CEL. The Akrapovic Evolution system is actually used by BMW on their factory build GT4 cars. Maybe you should point this out to any dealer that wants to give you a hard time on warranty. Check this out/show to your dealer: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...hlight=BMW+GT4 |

^ the main reason I'd go akrapovic is that the catless Dinan is STANKY. It's not a problem when you are moving but if you stop at a light and roll down a window, it smells like exhaust.

Yeah, I did. gotta sell my Arqray now... Need to polish up the tips. Overall, I liked the sound of the Challenge + Arqray better, but it droned a bit in the 1000-2000 rpm range. It was a bit too much for the kids/wife. The Akrapovic is the best exhaust I've heard in that range in terms of sound.

i was afraid Akra delete-r would affect the ECU warranty or if something goes wrong with the engine...so what would make the dinan software different? since they state that it will affect your bmw standard warranty, then would it make getting the dinan software pointless? thx |

For those curious, Dinan advertises these gains for the X-Pipe:
"Max HP Gain 23 @ 8200 rpm Max Torque Gain 21 lb/ft @ 4800 rpm" Most likely it would be a bit more than that since Dinan #'s are always conservative. |
