Wink M3 Coupe/Convertible pricing advice

Hey guys!!!
Been reading M3 post for a loooong time. Great forum!

I am in the market for an M3 and want to get a great deal. Market for cars not looking good right now...

I did ask $5,000 off MSRP on a 2009 M3 coupe and I was told they would loose money. I am still negotiating. What do you guys think is a fair offer???

Also...I have seen on their lot about 20 sedans/convertibles/coupes. I have told them I am not interested in a convertible, but would buy it for $10K under MSRP. Thoughts?

10K off unlikely
heck a lot of us would by it at 10K off
i'd love 8K off an 08 coupe
maybe if i wait a little longer it might happen
when the 09s start to arrive
there is a melbourne red with CF roof, premium, tech, CW, ipod/usb,HD, Sat and enhanced sound i am dying for but its MSRP is 68.4
and i can affod 60K max
i can get it down to around 62-63
but need more off

Go to Edmunds.com and check invoice vs retail for the M3 you desire, then you'll know an approximate margin for the dealer. However, the dealer also gets an M3 incentive (equivalent to the US car holdback) from BMWNA based on the results from your survey feedback after you purchase the car. On my M3 E93 the margin was ~$6.1K, but if you are trading, leasing or financing with the dealer, there are other margin knobs they can turn to improve their profit in the deal.

For my recently ordered M3 coupe with almost all the options. The price differential between MSRP and invoice was about $5,400. I would try to get at least $4k to 4.5k off MSRP. Of course 5k off MSRP would be even better.

The better deals are on the 08's. Go for at least 1k under invoice.

There have been a lot of previous posts and threads on this...

'08 - can shoot for under invoice as supposedly BMWNA offers a lot for back end profit to the dealer. The more seasoned posters will chime in, or you can check out older threads. Varied from $1-3K under. From the threads, it also seems to vary greatly by region. Sedans, allow for even more nego.

'09 - Have seen everything here from list price to nego just a couple grand over invoice again depending on region and how bad the dealer wants to move the units.

Will be interesting to see what the latest status is here on '08 inventory.
