Goodbye '07 335, Hello '08 M3
Couldn't resist!
AW, Black Novillo, Carbon Leather Trim, 6MT, MDrive, Executive, EDC, 19" The car was in stock and therefore no wait. I probably would not have ordered a new one at this point, but seeing one in front of my eyes was impossible to ignore. So, while waiting for my wifes X5 to be serviced the deal was drawn up. It felt weird giving up the 335i as it is also a great car. The M3 is a total beast and the noise is intoxicating. I love the carbon fiber roof and the dark roof liner. The seats are a lot more comfortable than the 335's. The ride is also less jarring over pot holes even with the suspension settings firmed up. I have not seen another M3 on the road in Toronto and as a result this car draws a lot of attention. There is a lot of talk about the 335 vs. the M3, but in my mind they are completely different animals. The 335 is a discrete stealth machine, often surprising people by how quick it is. Whereas everyone knows and expects an M3 to be the brute that it is.

Congrats! I made the same jump as you, and I totally agree with your thoughts on the 335 vs. M3. I honestly wish I could've kept the 335, because they're totally different machines with different personalities.

great
I ordered a coupe, went crazy with the options and sometime am thinking why? Meaning should I have saved some money and gone with the 335i but I have driven both and respect the 335i a lot and it's great engine, but the M3 sends chills up my spine with it's engine and not to mention the looks are so much more over the top (but not in a bad way) just that it stands out a lot more. |

She was o.k. with it, since she also got an '08 128i convertible to replace her '04 Saab 9-3 Convertible. The lease had just ended on the Saab so it was perfect timing.

Nothing off MSRP, but I did get far more for my 335i than I expected. But as you all know you can write a deal in many different ways. It could off been made to look like I got a deal on the M3 and not so much for the trade-in. Either way the dealer makes their money!

PS I like the way you can rais or lower the top when your are moving slowly, the S2000 has to be stopped with the parking break on. It's a PITA at times. |

Guess there is no slow-down in the Canadian economy? I meet a couple from Canada who were from oil-sand part of the country they said the economy couldn't be better what with $100+ barrel oil price etc.

I was also in your shoes last week. Walked into my dealer to get my 335i serviced and guess what i see... A new 08 M3 Sedan staring at me... I almost went with the new M3 but just couldn't justify the $85,000 CDN price tag. We did some calculations on it and my payments came to $1500 a month with $14,000 in security deposits with 8% interest over 48 month lease.
There is no way i am about to pay $1500 month on the M3. For a daily driver i guess 335i will do for now. Us canadians always get short end of the stick when it comes to BMW pricing. Anyways, congrats on your M3. Enjoy. |
