Remus Race Installed - Initial Thoughts

So my Remus Race exhaust came yesterday, and was installed same day. Tech that did it said that it took a little finagling, but all in all it is a good fitment.

I was a little leery about going with this brand since it does not come with connecting pipes, and you have to cut the stock muffler out to use the stock pipes, but the sound clips and reviews changed all that for me. If some of you didn't notice, I was posting all over the place looking for connecting pipes. Everything seemed to work out in the end.

At first look of the tail pipes, I was very impressed. They are slightly bigger then the stock ones, and nicer looking. But then I fired up the engine. I am very impressed. The deepness of the tone sounds great! The sound is a mix of an exotic sports car and an American quarter mile muscle car, in my opinion. At idle and cruising speeds, there's a little bit of a hum, but when I step on it, the car screams. I was on the highway this morning, and there was very little to no drone while cruising.

All in all, I am very happy with this. It looks great, it sounds great, and it is a quality product.

I agree... the tips are by far the best I've ever seen. And the exhaust sounds absolutely amazing.

Coming from a string of very loud cars, the drone seems very minimal. Honestly, you can't even hear it over a bit of music.

Remus is an excellent choice, glad you like it. I am too surprised to see customers write it off because they need to cut the factory muffler. It's a pretty straight forward step and yields a nice sound output. The great thing about Remus is that all of their systems are tested in house to prevent resonance and maintain comfort within the cabin. We stock their Race system for a reason, it's that popular.

I drove to San Diego and back with my parents - dad in passenger seat mom in the back, and I asked her after 100+ miles of freeway driving if there was drone that was bothering her. She said not at all.

I agree with everything you said other than the drone, it is just soooo annoying. But, at least for me, well worth it. I do recommend this product, but be you should be aware that it does drone a lot.

Congrats on the Remus race getting installed. If we could have gotten you the connecting pipes(Eisenmann) in time would have been nice too bad they were out of stock- but no big deal.

Post up video if you get a chance! Can't beat the value of the Remus exhaust.

I also have the Race. The tone changed in mine after break-in...maybe a few hundred miles. It got better IMO. I was thinking of adding the Fabspeed Res x-pipe but I think it would be to much. I've had people compliment on the sound of the exhaust whereas before people only commented on the car itself. I like it just the way it is now and am glad I went with the Race too. Congrats.

I'm sure it sounds great. Did you get them installed at the same time? Maybe I'll run into you at a local meet to hear the combo.

I have the RR with Fabspeed res. X-pipe, and echo the comments above.

I was asked by someone on Friday next to me in an S4 in center city Philadelphia to rev. I obliged... People on the sidewalk were frightened, and the look on these kids face was priceless. They said it sounded like an F1 car. Win.

I'm waiting for my Encore Innovation X-pipe -w- HFC & Resonators. But am undecided of either going with the Remus Sport or Race. I'd rather it not sound like a Mustang but don't want it to be so loud that I'm gonna regret the R/Race. So my question to you and all is for daily driving in neighborhoods, city, what ever normal driving is an x-pipe and R/race set up going to be ok? Or are the neighbors going to call the cops if I'm not stepping on the gas in the streets? WOT I don't care because that's what it's all about but in the local area's I don't want the hassles. Any thoughts?

Cheers,

Dude,

Honestly I thought remus race + x-pipe and HFC sounded terrible. My father, uncles, and brother all agreed. They thought it was "not quite as bad as a straight pipe Harley Davidson". I personally hate the WT jackasses who scream down our street at 6AM on their choppers and actually think they're cool because their exhausts wake the neighborhood, and somehow think it sounds good (it doesn't). So unclassy. The M with the remus race + x-pipe wasn't much better, although some will disagree. A 70K German sports car should not be set up to sound like a WT 10-15K motorcycle. No offense to all the Harley guys out there... Go with the sport or just keep the remus race by itself which is awesome. If you want x-pipe I'd go with AA, Remus/Eisie sport, or one of the quieter to mid-level volume exhausts. If you want really loud but don't want to sound like you're driving some WT POS then maybe go full Gintani....sound clips are siiick.

I also guess the x-pipe you choose has an effect (I have encore w/HFC) so the guys running fabspeed might have a better tone with their setup, and from the above posts it sounds like that's the case...

Interesting, perhaps you're right and others too. Hard to find a clip with remus race + HFC EI x-pipe set up. So far I think I've heard on youtube only the remus sport with the x-pipe. I wonder how much or what difference is there from the sound of the Fabspeed xpipe compared to the EI pipe? Anyway, the EI pipe is on it's way. Thanks for the advise.

Check out this thread and click on my car on the you tube video.

The guy named Blake in the video, his car is basically staight pipe no cats no nothing all he has is the factory muffler to tone the sound down on his car. enjoy the video. Oh and I recommend you get Remus Sport if you want no problems in the area you live in.
