Thank you very much...With the scoops and intake I hear a noticeable difference, but felt little. Once the car hits 4-5k rpms, it produces such a beautiful sound up front. Combine this with the exhaust and my added weight from the moonroof, I get to residential speeds in, what feels like, an instant. All in all, not upset with the money spent on intake and/or scoops. Our forum vendors are great and I thank them for saving me a substantial amount of money and hassle dealing with unfamiliar shops.

if you love it thats great for you. to me it looks fake and done just for looks which it is. I would just have gloss black vinyl put on there? would match with the sunroof better? personally i hate sunroofs so thats not a problem. one of the main reasons i didn't get an M5 is you can't order it without a sunroof.
the debate about why a cf roof can't have a moonroof option is kinda funny. its hard to argue the weight savings does anything on a 3600lb street car. but its also hard to imagine they would spend all the effort to design a roof which only quantifiable purpose is weight savings and then add in a heavy ass sunroof. why can't they make a light version of the sunroof? thin glass, light motor. hell make it carbon fiber too. i bet they looked into it and its likely too impractical to implement. leaks, too heavy for the shell.

Oh man that looks bad. Some guy approached me who did that to a 335i to compare it to my CF roof and I couldn't even look him in the eye. Why do people want fake CF? To each their own but the e9x is far too fine of a vehicle to cover in vinyl.
Seems the OP likes it so that's all that matters. At least it's not permanent! Also, to those doubting that the CF roof makes a difference... In capable hands on a race track yes, it makes a difference that would be measurable in tenths of a second in a lap time. 20 lbs may not seems like much but it's more about lowering CG which affects turn in/cornering grip ect. |

Appreciate your thoughts, truly. I utilize a moonroof too often and have owned a cf m3 and the 1m. The wrap takes away the 3-series vantage, as the roof just looked awkward all silverstone. Glad I did it, think it came out as good as it could, and obviously...it can just be peeled off at a moments notice.
Hope everyone's enjoying this weather, great to have serious grip! |
