If you haven't seen this series, it's pretty good - designers of the various M3 models throughout the years talking about the car. They just released the one for the E92. Helmut Himmel, the project manager for the S65 engine, narrates this one.

I was just going to post this...saw the notification on Linked In and checked it out. A nice fluff piece and the parts about light weight construction were, um, interesting.

However, after watching it, I suddenly wanted to go for a drive.

I am an F82 owner but in my opinion the E46 is the M3 to get. If I ever come across a low mileage example I'll jump on it.

I am E92 owner, but after test driving F82... Hm, I must say IMPRESSIVE!

Damn i will miss that sound..for me the best gen m3 yet. Actually, one of the best times for BMW as a whole, with the V10 M5/6. Just crazy.

No matter how angry or upset I am from work, getting into that car and driving it like bat out hell makes me believe paying that much for a vehicle is absolutely worth it.

My main gripe about the e9x m3's is what they did to the exhaust. In the brochures, there were dark shadows on the bottom of the exhaust and in real life, it's bright silver, the rear diffuser doesn't hide it all the way.

If they developed this car with much lighter weight, it would've been a perfect V8 M3.

true... I couldn't help but chuckle every time I heard them say " lightweight construction" while referring to a car that weighs about 800 lbs more than the E30 M3.
