I designed an M3 RPM Tach Wallpaper to share with the community
As I'm eagerly awaiting delivery of my car, I've been inspired to (re)create the M3 tachometer and share with the community in the form of desktop backgrounds. Here's a cropped preview:
And here are the sizes I created for your download pleasure (they are the most common widescreen sizes): 2560x1600 2560x1440 1920x1200 1440x900 These ones work best as your iOS lock screen background: iPad iPhone 4 (Retina Display) All other iPhones and iPod Touches Android: Droid X Most other Android Phones (480x800 Screens) ----------------------------------------- I know many of you have android devices. If you name your android device and tell me the display resolution, I can add them to the list. Keep in mind that I created this illustration from scratch so I own the rights to the artwork. If you wanted to use it for some commercial purpose, you'll have to get permission from me. Feel free to use them any way you want for personal use.

Brilliant!
Am using it on my IP4 Lock Screen and its cool! One recommendation is to do the tacho in degree celcius for the oil level if you could.

I hate to be a stickler but you should have waited long enough to get the silver dash in the yellow zone to align with the 8000rpm dash. This picture short changes M3's revving ability by 500 rpms

Thanks guys. I did have one question. How come some cars seem to have the shift lights and other's don't?
If I had my car already, I might have known that. It was hard to tell where the moving redline stopped from the photos I was able to source via google and flickr.

Looks rather awesome Just a suggestion should you be redoing this wallpaper, why not use the ///M (like the one on the tachometer in the middle) for the M Power saying at the bottom?

Cool artwork! Only suggestion I might have is show the tach right at fuel cutoff.
Another thought - I think windows 7 supports periodic background swapping. Other OSes probably do too, perhaps with third party software. So, it would be sweet to have these for every hundred RPM or so and be able to cycle through them. You could even have the sliding rev-limit for cold starts. Finally, on a no-one-else-cares-so-don't-bother note, I run my displays in portrait mode so I'd need 90 degree rotations of these. However, I can easily mod them myself for that. |
