SC/NC Meet Planning
Hi -
For those of you in SC, NC, and/or the GA & VA borders I would like to plan some sort of meet in the near future. The first goal is to get a consensus on what to do and then I will work on when to do it. The poll has a few options but feel free to throw out some other ideas. Finally what do you guys thinking about 'charging' each participant $50 in addition to whatever the activity costs to donate to a local charity? I thought that might be a nice thing to do.

Hey Ashley-
I voted for the track day. All of the local meets are ALWAYS crap for this reason: Guy #1: Hi there! Guy #2: Hey! Guy #1: This is my car, I have BLAH BLAH BLAH done and I am going to do BLAH BLAH BLAH. Guy #2: Shut up! We do not care These cars are made with some track inspiration in mind, I say we drive the *fun* out of them! Kind of short notice but the Hurricane region PCA is having an event at CMP August 14th-15th (Sat-Sun). It is $325 for the weekend registered before July 24th - $345 after. Also plenty of great drives in/around Boone that are always great If you need any help let me know! -Martin |

Hey guys - I voted for indoor karting as I thought that would be a little less involved in terms of cost and time committment. But I'd go for some track time too!

I am voting for the mountain drive mainly because I love the mountains and I am not sure if I will get up there this year otherwise. But of course the main thing is just to get together so let's see how this plays out once we get more input.
As far as dates I am pretty flexible right now in terms of the August/September time frame.

I am in Winston Salem and would love to get together regardless of where it is. I find it difficult to find fellow enthusiasts who drive anything similar to an M3 these days. Still, I voted for CMP and I think it could be am amazing day out. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses.
Cheers, Tom

A track day sounds like fun, but I'm voting for a mountain drive. Myself and a couple guys, took a drive through the Blue Ridge Pkway last Spring. We had a great time. If we plan this, I invited a coupe guys here in Charlotte to come along.
My car Some great driving road and scenery!

Looks like the voting is leaning towards the mountain drive. I am thinking about late August or sometime in September but not Labor Day weekend.
Assuming we go with the drive does anyone have a route they would recommend based on previous drives? I need to break out Google maps and starting looking. We could stop in Blowing Rock for lunch or something like that.

Proposed Route
So what do you guys think about this route?
We would meet in Boone, NC sometime in the morning ... maybe 10AM Then drive to Valle Crucis, Banner Elk, Linville, then Blowing Rock via 221. Of course we could stop along the way for pictures, food, etc. After getting to Blowing Rock we could head back to Linville this time along the BR Parkway and then finally back to Boone for everyone to head back home. If anyone has suggestions for better roads let me know but this would be a pretty scenic loop with a mixture of road types.

Blowing Rock or Banner Elk near Beech Mountain both have great places for lunch.
The backside of Beech Mountain has INSANE roads - just thinking of hitting them in the GT3 is making me smile while typing this If you need any help putting them together let me know - I know these areas pretty well from snowboarding! Also, know plenty of places if anyone wants to stay for the night (possibly just the Raleigh folks)... -Martin |
