likely a combo of all those reasons.

Wow, I got my 12' E92 M3 last year right before Memorial Day weekend and I just hit 6K miles on my stock Pirelli P-Zeros and I too am looking forward to the Michelin PSS's as well

i'm guessing there was simply no certainity of supply as they were likely decreasing production of the PS2s to make more PSSs. Just a guess. In that case BMW would need to find suppliers who can fill that void. It appears it happened at a time when M3 production really picked up in volume.

2013 - Came with Conti's.
They really aren't a tire of performance caliber. Don't know why they are even in consideration.

I'm trying to swing the tail out as much as I can to wear them out faster so I can justify HAVING to buy a new set of PSS (faulty self-logic hard at work lol).

I agree the Contis are not appropriate for the M3 particularly as part of the competition package. I will be very disappointed if mine comes with Contis

I think, no on second thought I know that BMW tested all the tires mentioned in this thread and therefore installs them on our cars.

I think another point to be made is ... they just don't like to give the business to only one of the manufactures it's just good business to spread it around a bit. For future development and price ... any of you in the business world know what I mean.

I found this article on the Net it is worth bookmarking and reading as well ...

Have a read and yes bookmark it too ---> Click here to Open

... and yes save travels for tires are important "When the Rubber meets the Road"

My 12 came with PS2s. As a data point I'm at 5500 miles and they are about shot. Slightly more wear in front than in back. IMO not bad tires and I've had them before on a Corvette where I saw similar performance so I'm looking forward to the PSS which by all accounts are better across the board.

'13 zcp e92 came with contis. Can't wait to burn them up -- I'm not a fan. I plan to switch to PSS.
