bumping an old thread.... their LM reps are 9.5 and 11" in the rear with something like +20 and +22-25 (?) offsets. Seems like they would look perfect. Cheap for a nice set of daily wheels with no worries, anyone?

Don't. EXTREMELY notorious for cracking. There was a thread on the 350z forums where some guy hit a pothole at 25mph and his wheel practically flew off of his car.

LM-R are not available in switzerland. and so they'r not legal (cause you need a special swiss certificat to run aftermarket wheels on your car)

and 6k for a set of wheels? no way....

I've seen forged wheels crack. You could buy three sets of wheels before getting up to the cost of the real thing. Sure, it's not the real thing, but to each his own. As long as you don't claim a rep is the real thing, I think they are awesome for what they are. I personally don't want to daily drive a 6k wheel/tire setup. They are all JWL/VIA certified and the arguement that a forged wheel on race car that can handle a crash at 200mph, well at that point in my street car, I just hope my seatbelt and airbags work

A pic of Malek's E92 on the Varrstoen 2.2.2:

I would NOT apply the blanket statement that all reps are poor quality. That's just ignorant. However, I would avoid any replicas made using gravity casting. Just my 2c. At least find yourself a low pressure cast wheel.

On the other hand, there have been some great deals on used authentic TE37s lately in the FS section.

that's the only thread there seems to be re: negative thoughts on Varrstoen, so to say they are EXTREMELY notorious for cracking seems to be inavalid, considering it's one post YOU read on the interweb!

If you read the whole g35forum post the driver wasn't driving under normal conditions.

Volks/hre/bbs crack too

http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-tir...olk-wheel.html

I understand why people think reps are terrible, cause they are reps and aren't forged, but most of them usually look good because they are reps of a wheel that has a classic design and some people don't want to drop 6k on a wheel/tire setup. Just because we own a pretty expensive car doesn't mean we are "required" to buy a piece of aluminum and rubber that costs 6k. There are markets for both and both should be respected imho. Plus, for the price of a new bbs/hre/etc wheel and tire setup, one could get a rep wheel/tire setup, a cosmetic package from IND, coil overs and maybe exhaust.

I'm perfectly ok with reps as long as people don't pass them off to be the real thing. Plus 99.99999% of the population doesn't even know what a hre/bbs/ccw/klassen/Rennen/adv wheel is...all we are really doing is just trying to impress people on some Internet car forum lol

I understand that expensive rims crack too, but wheels like Varrstoen's have been known to crack more. Don't get me wrong, they look awesome and are a great price, but I've heard of them cracking more than other rims. I'm in support of rep wheels, I really don't see the issue.

That being said, I wouldn't shell out money for NEW Varrstoen's and take the risk. I'd buy used, with the mindset that I have to extra careful when I drive around town.
