BMW Navigation 2009.1 North America with CAMS torrent ISO - Now Works!

As many know, there is a torrent file that has an iso of the BMW Navigation 2009.1 North America maps with red light camera info.

I downloaded the 4.29 GB ISO from thepiratebay.org. Used my Macbook Pro's Disk Utility to burn the ISO to a Verbatim DVD+R (single layer) disc at 2.4x speed. I did a burn and a verification. Both processes completed successfully.

I go put the new DVD into my car and I get a message on the screen that says:

"New Maps found, please shut down and start in 5 minutes."

I assume this means shut down the car. So I do so and waited for 5 minutes. Restarted the car and same error. I popped in my 2008.1 dvd that came with my car and the maps load up like normal.

Anybody know what I'm doing wrong with my 2009.1 disc? I really don't think I had a burn issue.

Update

I shut the car down for about 10-15 minutes and leave the 2009.1 disc in the car. When I go back to start the car, I notice the 2009.1 disc works! I go to [i], which are the points of interest, on "Current Location," choose "Car and Travel" submenu , and choose "Speed and Red Light Cameras", did a search for 100 miles, and the screen shows me a listing of all the cameras. Screen shows the approximate miles away and these weird jumbled letters that don't make any sense. I go back to my map display, and viola! All the red light cameras are displayed on the map. I turn the car off. Turn the car back on, and the cameras are still displayed on the map. This is great!

Furthermore, I noticed that when I started the car again, I was NOT confronted with the Warning Screen wherein you have to click ACCEPT. The screen immediately showed the previous screen I was looking at before I shut the car off (which was the first menu within the navigation menu).

Update: Okay, I had the car off for about 30 min. When I started it again, I was greeted with the Warning Screen and I had to click Accept. Oh well. At least the red light camera information was still displayed on the map.

LINK

http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4526...rica_with_cams

Not many people are seeding this file right now. 17 was the most I ever saw. It took about 2 days for me to download. I did achieve speeds of around 150-300 kbs which was awesome. Then sometimes it would drop to about 10 kbs. When that happened, I closed my uTorrent application and reopened it and got fast speeds again.

I believe that whoever created this, did some modifying. I think some of the more minor points of interest (like funeral homes) were deleted to fit the new Red Light Camera data on there and keep the disc under 4.7 GB for single layer burning.

Can I use DVD-R?
(I don't even know what's different between DVD-R and +R but I have a lot of -Rs)
And thanks for sharing. I have a mac as well so glad it works with Mac to burn it properly.

What part didn't work? Download of the torrent? Downloading of the ISO? Burning to DVD?

I don't know if our car's DVD drive can read DVD-R discs. But most modern DVD burners (like a MAC) can burn to either -R or +R. But try burning the ISO to DVD-R disc and report back to us.

You technically meant you are downloading the ISO right now. The torrent download probably took you 1 second.

This ISO actually came out on November 2008. Since that was so long ago, the hype for this type of thing has died. But hey, it's new to us, which makes it exciting.

Probably won't work for us. Nav updates for the 09's are loaded onto the HD.

I'll DL it anyway, though, and help seed.

I'm downloading the ISO right now. Once finishes, I'll try to burn on DVD-R and report to you guys.

This ISO should work on all pre-2009 iDrives. It for sure works on 2008 iDrive, because that is what I have. It does not change the interface to the slick 2009 interface. It only updates the maps, and has the hack for the camera information.

Obviously, people who have the 2009 iDrive won't need this disc, since they already have the 2009 maps.

I finished downloading ISO file.
I'm burning on Apple's DVD-R with 2X speed as we speak. I'll report tomorrow how it goes.

For windows users, here's a great plugin to burn ISO files
http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/

And the burn speed doesn't matter. I downloaded it last night and burned at 8x with no problems. It works fine, but I never got a message to turn the car off to let it load.

Of course burning at 8x should be fine. It's just that to decrease the chances of A burning error, it is best to burn at the lowest speed possible.
