Mine stopped as well, I have just put off going to the dealer. Good to know that it is a known issue.

This would explain a lot, mines never been cold. I've had mine in but they've never been "able to find a problem". Of course this is the same dealer who wasn't able to tell the clips that held in the wiper blade on the X6 were broken either. Even though when you pick up the wiper the dam thing just dangles there, on the work sheet it even says that the compared it to one on the lot!?

mine is 2009. again, there is a repair campaign to fix the AC system. this is not really a recall because the dealership is not going to mandate this fix (ie...send you a notice in the mail). In order for the repair the customer must complain about their AC not blowing cold air.

Recalls are only issued when lives could be at danger people .

Does anybody have the TSB on this? Seems to be it's only a matter of tightening the schraeder valves, no? By the way, they're larger than the ones on the tires; couldn't fit my tool in there. And there was a bit of pressure when I removed the cap. And we only have access to the low pressure one. Need to remove the airbox (or plenum) to reach the high-pressure one. That might be more of an issue. I assume my car still cools as shitty as day 1. Problem in my case is not lack of cold air, but that it takes a while to get cold AND most importantly, lack of air volume (and LOTS of noise). Crappiest A/C system I've ever seen. Good day.

If you have a heat stroke while driving because the A/C doesn't work then lives could be in danger.

FWIW my air has always been great.

AC not blowing cold air

Resurrecting this for peoples' information:

2009 E90 M3 with AC problem. Last summer after a horrendous stint of no cold air, I took it to the dealer. They just recharged the system, as they couldn't find the leak. Last week I took it back in to a different dealer after AC was noticeably degrading for a while. They found a leak in the shrader valves of the compressor (the compressor I was assured was fine otherwise). Hopefully this fixes the AC once and for all.

Is this issue limited to 2009 models?

My wife complained about my 2008's AC (as compared to her Mazda), but I've never really had a problem with it. She had it parked in the sun, and thought it took too long to cool down. I park in a garage at home and at work.

yes take it to the dealer; I suspected mine was just not as cold as it should be even though it was operating fine and they found a leak and replaced the evaporator under the dash

Did they have to take the dash apart?
I've seen some members here in warm climates have to pay $$$ to have the whole dash taken apart to change the AC.

Isn't the pump/motor located just behind and to the left of the engine? Why would they have to take the dash apart to get at it?

Looks like it's the evaporator.
