My own Individual composition interior

Since the days of my E46 M3 I liked very, very much the Individual interiors, going so far as to replace my whole dash and center console with a full extended leather in Cinnamon Nappa with a matching bicolor steering wheel, none available in the USA E46 M3 unless was ordered thru Individual at time of purchase. Somehow all the parts were available to order thru the parts department of Crevier BMW here in the USA for a very limited time.

Fast forward MY2008 E90 M3... no Individual parts available in the USA and nothing in Europe in Bamboo Novillo especially a bicolor steering wheel. Other than replacing my non-extended leather dash and center console (don't like at all this flat dash, much less in extended leather) with extended leather I came up with an interior refreshing that improves a lot my somewhat boring interior, giving it an almost OEM Individual-look and finish IMO:

- Bicolor steering wheel in OEM Bamboo/Black Novillo/Nappa leather, flat bottom, thicker rim, Tricolor stitching
- OEM Titanium trim professionally painted gloss black as in Piano Black
- Euro thigh supports leather covers

Notes:

- steering wheel conversion made by: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=307352

- the Bamboo leather on the custom steering wheel sides was obtained by using the USA thigh support leather covers that I replaced by Euro covers. That was my original idea after measuring the covers and consulting with Chris about how much leather was needed for a bicolor steering wheel. There was plenty of leather for the sides so the project was on...

- the Euro covers were ordered thru RoverActive (eBay); they fit the current thigh support foam and if wanted -I did- a little more foam can be added on top for a nicer, "fluffier" thigh support.

- interior Titanium trim was ordered thru Tischer BMW courtesy of Jason. Local paint shop did the painting for just $100... flawless job.

- DIY installation.

(photos will become smaller by tomorrow; Photobucket is acting up lately so any resizing takes 24 hours to be shown).

very nice! quick question, how come you went with the painted look rather than just order the high gloss black trim from tischer?

That OEM trim is not quite black, it is a very dark grey. The real Piano Black OEM trim is $1200... no thanks.

The USA E90/E92 M3 thigh support cover is flat, the Euro thigh support has a folded leather band in the middle matching the upper backrest cover folded band.

Like the piano black trim. Reminds me of the piano black trim in the B5 RS4.

Pretty clever. I'd love to do the Euro cover thigh supports too, but I know I'll never get the time. You did a great job. Unique and clean.

Cheers.

Edit: BTW, do you have any trouble keeping the beige part of the steering wheel clean, being that your hands are constantly on it?

Thanks... I use BMW driving gloves since my hands sweat peels the OEM leather off where I touch. The OEM steering wheel was replaced under warranty for this same reason with less than two years of use.

Perhaps you are thinking about the Euro seat bottoms, I did not change those. There are two separate pieces for the seat section, the bottom and the thigh support covers.
