Hi everyone, need some color help.....
Hey Guys,
Been lurking here for ages but finally created an account. Ive just placed an order on a '13 ZCP e92 M3 for a feb build. At the moment I'm tossing up between Monte Carlo Blue, Le Mans Blue and Sapphire Black. I know colour is totally personal but I'm pretty stuck so i thought I'de ask for opinions. Also does anyone have pics of MCB without the carbon roof? I prefer the moon roof but not sure if it needs the roof contrast. Thanks, Marc |

Monte Carlo is never a bad choice. Pricy, but relatively exclusive too.
Not to confuse you further but, if you are willing to pay for Individual paint anyway, have you looked at some of the othe newer blue colors such as San Marino, Estoril II, or Santorini. These all look terrific as well. |

Hate to say it, and it doesn't really help, but... all good choices.
Obviously I am biased towards Le Mans but I have seen the other choices in person and they look very nice as well.

Monte Carlo is definitely a LOT brighter than Le Mans; there's a PCD thread with pics of an MCB E92 parked outside right next to an LMB E90. San Marino is basically Interlagos in hue but with the saturation cranked way, way up so it looks almost electric. Still has that "blurple" quality though.
Not to make your decision even more difficult, but for black, have you considered Azurite? Seems to be a favorite here and it has a blue undertone, which might appeal to you since you seem to like blue. Or if I were doing it again, I'd seriously consider Tanzanite Blue, which is sort of a midnight blue with this beautiful inky lighter blue undertone and turquoise flecks. There are pics of a 640i Convertible at the Geneva Auto Show as well as a 640d Gran Coupe if you search 6Post (EDIT: Thread links in a post below.) Not to say I don't like my Le Mans because I definitely do, but Tanzanite looks downright regal. It's elegant but subtly flashy in a way that makes clear that the car is something special.

Do a quick poll. Might help make a decision efficiently via forum. I vote MCB if you like the flash and exclusivity. Blue just does wonders to the M, and elevates it closer to an exotic look.

Thanks guys, might add a poll tonight. There are so many blue and blacks in BMW paint .
The individual is pricey but most options are now standard on the M3's here in aus so it helps with the price (although its still stupid compared to the US). Mum actually has a Jerez Black e90 ZCP so trying to stay away from that colour combo, although it is really nice. I find santorini and laguna seca a bit light for my tastes and marino really pops but is a little "burple". My first car was a focus ST170 in "burple" and i would prefer a true blue this time. Has anyone seen midnight blue? is it similar to Jerez? |

^ Midnight Blue is closer to Carbon Black than Jerez because Jerez has a purple undertone, whereas Carbon has a blue undertone and an overall blue/black tinge -- but obviously Midnight Blue is bluer than Carbon Black.
But if you're ponying up for Individual, I'd take Tanzanite over Midnight every day and twice on Sunday. Similar tones, but Tanzanite looks far more exotic, which is probably why it's a semi-Individual option (called Individual, but a factory order option) on the 6 Series, at least in the US.

There's also Azurite Black that is close to Jerez but it isn't. Midnight I think is also a bit close Jerez, but a tad lighter.

You won't find Tanzanite on an M3 -- all the more reason to get it yourself! The color hasn't existed long and pics of it on ANY car are tough because dealers can't order semi-Individual colors for floor models, only Priority 1 cars (built to a paying customer's spec), I believe. Just take a look at the 640d Gran Coupe and 650i Convertible at the Geneva Auto Show and use your imagination.

BMW makes some awesome individual/special paint. I'm now in love with Moonstone.
