I too would suggest the AFE carbon intake. Sounds great under WOT!
If you want to keep the MPE I would not suggest catless mid pipes. Go with a high flow cat setup in the mids and the MPE will really sing. Depending on which X-pipe you get you might have some money left over for a BPM tune. |

I'd leave the exhaust and intake alone and buy a big brake kit and tune.

Test pipes are the bang for the buck in power mods. Tune adds very little power but often results in smoother power delivery and can be had with an extended redline for more top end fun and also allows for coding possibilities.

Maybe a topspeed catless x pipe, can choose up to 4 resonators for ~800. There is a complete write up on one somewhere on the forums, no need for these manufacturers to go marking up x pipes to be thousands. Then get a evolve tune with pullys and air intake.

Cool, you're in Westchester
I'd get a HFC Xpipe which really opens up the sound dimension plus a tune. On my MCB E92 I have the ESS HFC Xpipe, tune and the Evolve Valvetronic rear section With this HFC Xpipe I can pass emissions, it doesn't smell like poop, it doesn't have horrible rasp and incredibly there is no drone around 3-3.3k which is the hotspot on the S65. With the stock xpipe, even the Evolve rear section droned and it wasn't loud. The Xpipe made all the difference in the world, as it drones *less* at cruising speeds yet is much louder On my E90 I'm currently all stock, but will soon change the entire exhaust Like someone else said, what I'd really do with 3k is change rod bearings. There's a DIY in my signature |

I would rethink the AA xpipe w/ high flow cats. Its terribly expensive, won't make more hp than test pipes and you will destroy the cats as they keep them in the OEM location and they will bottom out on every speed bump. Ask me how I know...

Daves right about bottoming out the high flows. They tend to be football shape while the stock ones are square and flat. The driver side cat hangs lower than the right. It always grinds over every speed bump.
