How would you spend $3,000?

whats going on everyone,

i have a 13' e92 m3 limerock edition, i currently have the m performance exhaust in it but I'm looking to change up my set up, i want to keep the stock m performance exhaust but looking to upgrade xpipe/mid pipe section, my question is what do people thing is the best route to go, with a 2500-3k budget. id like a hp gain of course but definitely something that sounds real good too. any ideas??

Go fully catless with a bpm or gintani tune

The BMW MPE with a catless xpipe is going to be raspy as hell. To be honest I would find a OEM xpipe that you can cutup and install testpipes and get a tune and call it a day. This in total would only run you about $1500, if you want to get an intake you can do the AFE Stg2 CF intake for around $500 or just get a drop in filter for $100. You want to get a more expensive intake you can move on to the Dinan for $800 for the same hp the AFE will get you. I like the BMP tune just cause Mike is such a pleasure to work with and the tune meshes well with those mods.

I too would suggest the AFE carbon intake. Sounds great under WOT!

If you want to keep the MPE I would not suggest catless mid pipes. Go with a high flow cat setup in the mids and the MPE will really sing.

Depending on which X-pipe you get you might have some money left over for a BPM tune.

I'd leave the exhaust and intake alone and buy a big brake kit and tune.

Test pipes are the bang for the buck in power mods. Tune adds very little power but often results in smoother power delivery and can be had with an extended redline for more top end fun and also allows for coding possibilities.

Evolve X-pipe with secondary HFCs and Evolve tune. Opt for the cold start delete if you care about your neighbors.

Maybe a topspeed catless x pipe, can choose up to 4 resonators for ~800. There is a complete write up on one somewhere on the forums, no need for these manufacturers to go marking up x pipes to be thousands. Then get a evolve tune with pullys and air intake.

Tune, Test Pipes, Intake

All 3 will add HP, the Intake a marginal amount, but makes it sound nicer!

okay so BPM tune definitely seems the way to go, i was looking into getting the AA xpipe w/ high flow cats, drop in filter..

so, totally a noob question, but I've never tuned my car before so with the bpm tune, you just order the tune online, $999, and they send you the set up and what you just plug it in and follow the steps for the tune?

Cool, you're in Westchester

I'd get a HFC Xpipe which really opens up the sound dimension plus a tune. On my MCB E92 I have the ESS HFC Xpipe, tune and the Evolve Valvetronic rear section

With this HFC Xpipe I can pass emissions, it doesn't smell like poop, it doesn't have horrible rasp and incredibly there is no drone around 3-3.3k which is the hotspot on the S65.
With the stock xpipe, even the Evolve rear section droned and it wasn't loud. The Xpipe made all the difference in the world, as it drones *less* at cruising speeds yet is much louder

On my E90 I'm currently all stock, but will soon change the entire exhaust

Like someone else said, what I'd really do with 3k is change rod bearings. There's a DIY in my signature

I would rethink the AA xpipe w/ high flow cats. Its terribly expensive, won't make more hp than test pipes and you will destroy the cats as they keep them in the OEM location and they will bottom out on every speed bump. Ask me how I know...

Daves right about bottoming out the high flows. They tend to be football shape while the stock ones are square and flat. The driver side cat hangs lower than the right. It always grinds over every speed bump.

Yea, the Fabspeeds do the same as well.
